The 2017 Completionator Community Top 10 voting has come to a close and I want to thank everyone who participated in this event. This time of year gaming websites are full of Game of the Year awards and Video Game Award shows are becoming more like the Oscars each year. We thought it would be fun to come up with our own video game award that you, the members of the Completionator community could vote on. Unlike other Game of the Year awards, the games people could vote for were for all games ever, not just those released in 2017. The only rule is the vote had to be for a game the person played in 2017

This year we had 25 people submit votes on 182 different games. The votes were given point values based on how the games were placed in the person’s stack. So first place received 10 points and tenth placed received 1 point. We tallied up the scores and now we will reveal 2017 Completionator Community Top 10!

10 - Grand Theft Auto V

Release Date: 9/17/2013
Number of Owners: 545
Average User Rating: 92%
2017 Completions: 8

GTA V is the oldest game to be featured on the top 10 this year. The game is over 4 years old and Rockstar is still putting out updates. Will there be a GTA VI?

9 - Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition

Release Date: 6/14/2016
Number of Owners: 121
Average User Rating: 94%
2017 Completions: 6

Ori and the Blind Forest might have had the least amount of completions among the top 10 but the three votes it received put it in 9th place this year. With an overall user rating of 94%, this game is definitely worth checking out.

8 - Inside

Release Date: 7/7/2016
Number of Owners: 155
Average User Rating: 83%
2017 Completions: 16

This fairly short indie game has won many awards in addition to it's 8th place finish on the Completionator Top 10, including Best Independent Game from the 2016 Game Awards.

7- Sonic Mania

Release Date: 8/15/2017
Number of Owners: 36
Average User Rating: 93%
2017 Completions: 8

After many years of lackluster Sonic games, Sonic Mania is considered to be a really solid fun game. Developed by fans of the Sonic franchise, this Sonic game has some publications calling this the best game in the series. With a user rating of 93% the Completionator community agrees.

6 - Shovel Knight

Release Date: 6/26/2014
Number of Owners: 338
Average User Rating: 85%
2017 Completions: 13

Shovel Knight is another indie game that really took off. Taking advantage of the 8-bit retro trend, Shovel Knight continues to thrive 3 years after it's release. With two additional free DLC and one more on the way and with it available across virtually all current platforms this hit game is worth picking up.

5 - Stardew Valley

Release Date: 2/26/2016
Number of Owners: 412
Average User Rating: 86%
2017 Completions: 10

Similar to Shovel Knight, Stardew Valley is an indie game that started out small but continues to get ported to all the major consoles. The game was developed by a guy named Eric Barone in 2011 that graduated from college and decided to design a game on his own. Not getting a real job after college really paid off for this guy!
