I suspect I will run into this with any game that doesn't have a Store page, but so far, it's just prototypes from the Double Fine Fortnight, which I vaguely remember getting free with something else I bought from them. They don't appear in the database, and I can see how it would be hard to impossible to import them automatically. but I still want to track them. I don't know if it's appropriate to list them in Games to be Added, since they aren't available for purchase. How are games like this handled?

This is an interesting topic. I also believe that games which have been removed from Steam also no longer have a Store page (though you can usually still access their "community" page).

In my opinion, games such as the Double Fine Fortnight prototypes should still be added to the Completionator database. It just might take a little more effort to find out their key info (release date, etc) when there is no Steam page to easily refer back to. I would say go ahead and list them in the Games to Be Added thread!

I would imagine they're still appropriate to be added since it's a fairly limited run. I would go ahead and put in a request in the games to add thread.

Obviously we wouldn't want to open the floodgates to every single prototype, demo, or unfinished project out there, otherwise we'd be swimming in itch.io garbage and the like.

Don't get me wrong, there's some neat stuff on itch.io, but like the mobile app stores, finding good content is like finding a needle in a haystack so it's best if moho_00 sticks to "add on request only" for these kind of thing rather than try and build a more complete database.

edit: Beat me to it, Marcus. Curses!

Agreed, prototypes / demos / unfinished / unreleased games are indeed welcome here and we've added a number of them already. Is Double Fine Fortnight the same as the Amnesia Fortnight they did? I might need a little help in figuring out what exactly needs to be loaded

Yes, it's the Amnesia Fortnight. Humble Bundle did a bundle based on the 2012 edition (not sure if they do this every year and I missed it, or if it was just that once). The prototype games in the 2012 bundle were: Autonomous, Black Lake, Brazen, Hack n' Slash, Happy Song, Spacebase DF-9, and White Birch. All of those have "Prototype" after the name, and only a couple went into full production. All of them are Double Fine games and came out in 2012.
