Does anyone else think they really ramped up the difficulty towards the end of the third act? I just finished the game and I really struggled with the last half. I thought it came out very strong but by the end I was just cycling through teammates hoping I had enough of a variety to keep my teams alive and doing damage. I thought the game was beautiful and they did a great job capturing the Mario aesthetic but the gameplay suffered towards the end. Just wondering if everyone else felt that way or I just really suck at these types of games.

I breezed through the first two worlds and then I immediately ran into trouble with the third one. My main problem was dealing with the ghost enemies that could teleport. Part of my issue was that I relied heavily on Mario's ability to intercept targets and they never triggered it. After struggling with the first few battles in that act, I started to find my groove again and didn't have many issues the rest of the game. I used the starting team the entire game and I think that helped me since I knew those characters in and out and could react to just about anything the game threw at me.

Rabbid Luigi was probably my superstar since he could do ridiculous vampire damage (like 160 or something?) to multiple opponents by running into them. I would often do that, then smack 'em with my other characters to regain health, have Mario intercept (multiple) targets, and use Rabbid Peach's little explosive cars to do crazy range damage (and soak up bullets, in a pinch). I thoroughly enjoyed this one

Rabbid Luigi was the surprise indeed. The final battle, I let Mario and Yoshi die during Phase 1 and Rabbid Luigi managed to stay sustained and finish off the battle for the rest of the fight. I didn't hate the game by any means, but there were just some questionable design decisions. You're right though, Moho. I feel like my teams were a little rigid for awhile. Once I opened up the roster a bit and started playing around with other characters I noticed things getting a bit easier.

I aced the two first worlds. 100%:ed them before continuing to world 3. And... wham. It was like running into a wall :D

Well, I didn't have that much of a problem with the story levels, but the challenges are another thing entirely. I'm leaving them for later. Now I'm struggling with world 4; I just played 4-3 and Mario died on the my round of battle 2 lowering the score to a "Good". Didn't feel like restarting, especially since it took me quite a number of tries to get the first battle perfect.

I am playing around with the team composition though, so I guess I haven't really mastered any of the characters. (Or I've mastered them all, mwahahaha)

Phew, okay. Just beat the game. I'm gonna continue unlocking stuff a while longer - I think, at least. Have to agree about Rabbid Luigi! I'll keep him around for sure!
