THIS IS NOT A FEATURE REQUEST FOR THE SITE UNLESS IT IS ALREADY BEING WORKED ON! I know its in site feedback, but wasn't sure if just being mainly focused around the site was enough to put it here...

I remember in one post, moho mentioned it'd be cool to have a Completionator Game Night, or something similar. This got me thinking...that and being lonely playing solo in everything lol

My ORIGINAL idea was to use an app I found where you could make groups and basically posts saying you're looking for a game. After discovering a lot of problems, I realized there's an easier answer: Discord.....but then I remember the fact we're mostly a small community. Apparently we DO have a Discord, but I don't know it and its probably too small right now....though that means we need to advertise it too :P

So can anyone think of ways we can maybe have an easy way to arrange games to play together in? MY hope is to have an app where you can make posts "advertising" game sessions, chat, being able to play ANY game no matter how old or popular, voice, and not be bound by game platform....but I have yet to find anything come close except discord.

But why do we need one aside from helping grow the community? How could it help backlogs and, you know, collecting: The second purpose of this site?
-Team up in playthroughs, such as Borderlands so the player doesn't go through the game solo and get bored quick.
-Join up for a bounty, maybe even implementing multiplayer bounties....MAYBE.
-Join up for a Mission given by another user. Heck, maybe the user that assigned you that game can help you complete it!
-Maybe there's parts of a playthrough that are either really hard or multiplayer only that others can help with.
-We can look at each other's games and playthroughs, so we know what game to choose to play together
-I'm not very knowledgeable in collecting, but I imagine if we had the ability to send a message to everyone through notification like discord, we could have a notification message for games that just went on sale!
-Unwanted keys

At the end of the day, Completionator offers MOST of this already, but without the voice, notifications (I think), and I guess the traffic. Not to mention its a website, where Discord is an app that can run in the background. I'm NOT-I repeat-NOT bashing or saying Completionator is bad. I'm just trying to think of ways to get our community more active, or to help us help each other in games or with game collecting.

EDIT: Things that make it hard to do this.
-Different time zones
-School, work, etc

PS: For those curious, this was ONE of the apps I was looking at, but had our way of adding games but wasn't as good at the job as us :P Just focused on newer popular titles https://gamerlink.gg/

You're right in that there is a discord, but it's seldom used. I don't think I've checked in on it for months now and even back then it was barely used. That's not to say Discord doesn't work, but I think as a complimentary tool to the site, it is most effective for when you've already got a group ready to game and need a channel to party chat in.

The primary reason I think gaming nights, or other activities in general, have been difficult to get going is that despite the decent sized user base on this site, it's not the most active user base. Due to the nature of a site for tracking collections & completions first and foremost, the majority of returning users only come back to check in once in a while to update things. Moho_00's always brainstorming ideas for user engagement to keep people coming back and interacting in a bid to try and foster a greater sense of a community. Since I've created my account here we've seen the addition of Bounties, Missions, Thoughts/Feed, etc... which all encourage participation and interaction. Some are working pretty well (Bounties), others need work (Missions), and there are still plenty of new ideas that moho_00's cooked up. The real limiting factor is free time to work on the site.

As for group gaming in the meantime, I think your best bet if you're looking to do it via completionator would be to make a post on the forums with what you're looking to play (having a list of games to gauge interest would help.) You'll need a bit of patience so people who only periodically check in will have the opportunity to get on board. Past gaming nights usually had to be planned out a couple of weeks in advance so we could make sure we got enough people to play.

I know another idea I had did use a forum post, but I didn't know how to handle it. I guess one topic like the Games to Add one could work, but I'm not sure and it might not even be worth it.
