Description

Going to be selecting my favorite games that came out this year! I still have yet to get around to playing Sonic Mania, Horizon Zero Dawn, a Hat in Time and several other GOTY contenders which I'm sure would have made the list had I played them! Feel free to tell me some of your favorites!

Super Mario Odyssey

My clear #1 game from 2017. My personal favorite 3D Mario title since Mario 64.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

This game completely changed what I thought a Zelda title could be. After playing it I thought for sure no game would top it this year....

Persona 5

What a ride this game was. The story, in my opinion, was not as good as P4, however the battle system. dungeon design and character development was as good as ever. I truly cared about my friends until the very end of this game.

Golf Story

This game absolutely shocked me with how amazing it was. As a HUGE fan of the Mario Golf/Tennis handheld games back on the Gameboy and Gameboy Advance, this throwback mixes golfing simulation with RPG elements. Add in a humorous story that feels akin to Earthbound and you have yourself a winner. This game may have been even higher on this last had I not encountered a game-breaking glitch that took over 2 months to patch so I could continue playing.

Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony

As a huge fan of visual novels, once again Danganronpa V3 delivers the goods. This game has one of the craziest plot twists I have ever experienced...and it happens so early in the game!

Splatoon 2

Essentially a very similar experience to Splatoon 1, I rather enjoyed my time with Splatoon 2 way more since I had more Switch friends to play online with. A very fun experience made even better with the multi-player.

Yooka-Laylee

A game that received it's fair share of criticism, and lot's of it deserving, I enjoyed my time with Yooka-Laylee. I have yet to play a Hat in Time, but it's seems that 3D collect-a-thons are making a comeback and I couldn't be happier.

Crash Bandicoot Remastered

Having never played the original Crash Bandicoot games, I had no idea what I was getting into with Crash Remastered. Pure platforming action is what I got and I loved it! Much more difficult than I had anticipated but that was also a breath of fresh air!

Poi

Not as polished as many of the 3D platformers that came out this year, Poi still has plenty of charm and lot's of fun to be had. Very happy I played through this one.

Friday the 13th: The Game

As someone that doesn't particularly enjoy the horror genre, Friday the 13th was so much fun to play, especially with friends. I experienced just as much laughter as I did screams!
