Description

2017 was actually a pretty productive year in getting some long-overdue backlogged games off of my list. Here's hoping 2018 will help me finish that list!

The Lord of the Rings: Tactics

This game is the definition of mediocrity. Would've worked better with more massive battles, a noticeable change in character power as they level up, and the chances to hit that are displayed actually being accurate.

LocoRoco 2

A relatively fun mindless game. Don't understand why it got blown up as much as it did, but it amused me for an hour or two.

Daxter

Actually a solid game, and I didn't expect that. Well done, guys. Can you tell I was on a PSP binge?

Ys Origin

I actually got this game in a limited edition physical release. Beat the whole game with one character. Apparently the full game has three characters. I'll have to come back for that. Regardless, this is the Ys game I've enjoyed the most by far.

Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon

MAN, was playing this game on savage difficulty a bad call. But I beat it. Nobody can say I didn't put effort into it.

Golden Sun: Dark Dawn

MAN, was this game bad. Like, so bad. But out of sheer willpower, I beat it.

Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime

This game made me laugh more than it should. Would totally play a sequel.

Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon

Nobody ever talked about this game around me. Darn shame, because it's a solid title.

Star Ocean: Second Evolution

Worst final boss ever. 500,000 hp. On the easy version. The harder version has 1.5 MILLION. And his attacks deal 9000 to ever party member. Unless you play against the harder version, which does even more. It's just awfully designed.

Code Name S.T.E.A.M.

It is a crime how under-recognized this game is. I'd love a sequel, and I know it's never going to get one.

Persona 5

Not as good as Persona 4, but this game gets a solid 9/10 from me.

Command & Conquer (1995)

This was a trip down memory lane. Also, first time I beat the entire game.

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor

After getting 3 ports of this game, I finally got a version that I could PLAY. And I thoroughly enjoyed this, Looking forward to the sequel after a price drop.

Ratchet & Clank (2016)

Fun fact: First game that I ever platinum'd.

Pokémon Conquest

A weird little game, but I enjoyed it. A bit on the easy side.

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night

Yeah, I finally got around to this classic that's been hailed for years. And I freaking loved it.

Uncharted 4: A Thief's End

Somehow, they made a game even crazier than the 3rd, and with an even more compelling story. This might be my favorite series since the PS3 era began.

Rayman 2: The Great Escape

This was my first Rayman game. It was....interesting. Not the best thing I've played, but there were parts that I enjoyed.

Aliens: Colonial Marines

A friend asked me if I'd livestream this. I told him only if someone gave it to me, because I wasn't spending money on it. That bastard bought this game and all of the DLC. Let it be known that I am a man of my word. I livestreamed every bit of it.

Never again.

DOOM (1993)

Yeah, I never played a Doom game until this year. I know, I don't deserve the title of "gamer". For what it's worth, I thoroughly enjoyed this. To make it even more interesting, I beat the Sega 32X port of it.

Ape Escape: On the Loose

Yup, back to the PSP. I cleared quite a bit of that library this year.

Secret Agent Clank

Told ya. And this was actually really solid, too.

God of War: Chains of Olympus

I didn't think this would work on a handheld. Consider me wrong on that.

The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages

Solid game EXCEPT FOR THE FINAL BOSS. Seriously. Three forms, and needing to hit her roughly 30 times if you go on a convoluted quest to upgrade your sword? I think other bosses took like 7 hits tops. I mean, great game aside from that. Still gotta do Oracle of Seasons.

Metroid II: Return of Samus

This was a cool gem. It's crazy that it's only now getting any significant recognition.

This War of Mine

10/10 game. Holy cow, guys. Actually, I might go home and play this again tonight.

Donkey Kong Land

This was a weird port. But I beat it, glitches and all. (Why was like a third of this game Donkey Kong jumping across city rooftops like Spiderman?)

South Park: The Stick of Truth

I figured that this game was overblown, but it actually was an absolute thrill to play, and really did feel like you were in a South Park movie.

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door

I actually played this game as a kid, but never beat the final boss. Well, I re-bought it, beat the final boss AND the pit of 100 trials. Hoorah!

Splatoon

The final boss was strangely difficult given the rest of the game, but a fun little game overall. Albeit, a little over-hyped in my opinion.

Alien: Isolation

This was an intense playthrough. I actually livestreamed it and used the mic so the alien could hear me. Holy crap, was that fun. Planning on going back and doing some of the DLC. Please make a sequel of this game....
