Description

Here's the list of games I completed in 2017. Overall it was a good year in gaming for me but I could have done so much more if I didn't get stuck in so many games. I have a method I use to help me choose which game I will work to complete. Since I have so many games (not as many as most of you) I use a random number generator to help me decide which games to play. I try my best to complete each game chosen but if I get stuck in a game for too long I give up and move on. The only exception is if I get a hot game I play it right away (Zelda, Mario Odyssey) Here are the games that were chosen that I actually got through.

Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition

The first game I completed in 2017 was Tomb Raider for the Xbox One. I had just got the Xbox One for Christmas and this was the first game I decided to try out. This was the first Tomb Raider game that I've ever really tried to play. I didn't have much experience with this type of adventure game before and I must say that I really enjoyed it.

Super Mario 3D World

I decided to run through Super Mario 3D World for a second time to see how close I could come to completionating it. I logged two completions, one when I beat the main story and a second when I collected as many stars as I could. I didn't get them all but I got close.

Shovel Knight: Plague of Shadows

After really enjoying the first Shovel Knight, and since this was a free DLC I knew I had to try this one out. Plague of Shadows is a great extension to the first game. The story is actually pretty good and I had an emotional connection with the two main characters. Play this if you like Shovel Knight!

Rayman Origins

Rayman Origins was a free game on Games with Gold and this was the first Rayman game I've ever played. It was an enjoyable platforming experience and I look forward to playing more Rayman games in the future.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

This game doesn't need much explaining. I've raved about this game from the moment I turned it on. It's game of the year on many lists for a good reason. I spent the most time I've ever spent in a game here, over 91 hours. I hope to go back to Hyrule to find more things I missed someday.

Nintendo Land

The random number generator forced me to play this one. It was surprisingly good in places. It's a game full of nintendo themed mini games. It's a good game if you want to mess around and don't want to get too involved in a major game.

New Super Luigi U

This was the first time I finished this game. I tried several times before but it was too hard. I finally pushed through it and beat the main story. I did not attempt to collect everything in the game. Definitely fun if you like the pressure of getting through the stages in under 100 seconds.

Super Bomberman R

This turned out to be a fairly easy game in the story mode. The story itself was super cheesey but that's whats to expect with some Japanese games I guess.

LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Another free game from Games with Gold. This was my first from the Lego franchise of games. I actually enjoyed playing this with my son. It was more challenging than I thought it would be.

Puyo Puyo Tetris

I spent several hours with this and I still don't understand Puyo Puyo but it was a lot of fun.

Shovel Knight: Specter of Torment

The most recent DLC for Shovel Knight was good but I didn't think it was as good as Plague of Shadows. Definitely worth checking out if you're a fan of Shovel Knight.

Oxenfree

My first graphic adventure game. I liked how the game changes based on the answers you provide to questions throughout the game.

Super Mario Odyssey

As of this writing I have collected 500 moons and am going to try and collect as many as I can before calling it quits. If you have a Switch you have to get this game. The main story is fairly short but collecting the moons is where the fun really is at. Get this!

Blaster Master Zero

If you ever played Blaster Master then you should check this out. It's the prequel to the original and it was an enjoyable experience. Even if you don't know anything about Blaster Master you should check this out!

Fast RMX

A fun racer that's good to pick up every once in a while and play but isn't great for long periods of time. I didn't technically finish this one but I played long enough to get tired of it.

Sonic Mania

The best Sonic game in a long time. It felt like the good old days of Sonic again. Hopefully this group that developed this makes more Sonic games!

Adventures of Tron

At the end of each year I like to find some easy games to pad my completions a little. This one I played on my Atari when I was a little kid. It was actually pretty hard once you complete a few levels.

Jungle Hunt

My last completion of 2017. I played this game as a kid a lot and was pretty decent at it then and I wasn't bad now.
