Description

Just a stack of games that I've finished in 2016.

Total Time: 472 Hours 45 Minutes

Her Story

This game was interesting as I don't think I've played a game just full of random clips before while also having to type in random words to find new videos to watch. I'm glad I was able to try this one and it has opened my eyes to possibly trying more games like this in the future.

Completion Date: 01/04/2016
Completion Time: 2 Hours 46 Minutes
System: PC/Windows - Steam

Super Street Fighter II Turbo

I am terrible at fighting games. I ended up putting this game on the easiest setting possible and still managed to find myself getting beat at some levels.

Completion Date: 01/09/2016
Completion Time: 34 Minutes
System: PlayStation 2

The Great Waldo Search

Completion Date: 01/09/2016
Completion Time: 10 Minutes

Shaq Fu

Darthbob2000 and I were at Moho_00's house when we decided to play some random games in his collection. This one was sitting on the shelf just begging to be played. I had heard such terrible things and wanted to know if it really deserved the flak.

The story is laughable, the combat in it is awful (if Shaq could actually jump in real life like he does in the game, it would have been amazing), and the guys you had to fight throughout were just odd. We initially started on the normal/medium settings but had to turn it down to easy in order to roll through the game. This game is pretty damn terrible.

Blood

This was a VERY fun game. Old school FPS that probably has a story, but like any old school FPS, just try to survive and kill everything that moves! Save often as you never know what will lurk around the next corner!

Completion Date: 01/11/2016
Completion Time: 10 Hours 30 Minutes

Blood: Plasma Pak

This was a VERY fun game. Old school FPS that probably has a story, but like any old school FPS, just try to survive and kill everything that moves! Save often as you never know what will lurk around the next corner!

This was one of two expansions that was released and was pretty much the same as the core game...just more stuff to kill!

Blood: Cryptic Passage

This was a VERY fun game. Old school FPS that probably has a story, but like any old school FPS, just try to survive and kill everything that moves! Save often as you never know what will lurk around the next corner!

Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles

If you enjoyed Symphony of the Night, I highly recommend this game as it includes a remade version of Rondo of Blood, the original version of Rondo of Blood, and Symphony of the Night as well!

Symphony of the Night is one of my favorite games of all times, so I just had to play this. While it isn't nearly as good as the masterpiece, SotN, it is still well worth your time!

This game took me 4 hours and 15 minutes to complete and only pertained to the Rondo of Blood remake, but I didn't complete or find everything in the game. I could easily go back and probably invest easily double the time and still not see all that this package has to offer!

Completion Date: 02/01/2016
Completion Time: 4 Hours 15 Minutes
System: PlayStation Portable (PSP)

Beyond Good & Evil HD

I decided to play this one because of two reasons:

1 - I had heard really good things.
2 - There was a bounty assigned so it was as good of as any.

After playing through it, I did enjoy it quite well. Interesting story and loved the characters and the overall world setting. This one took me a little over 10 hours to finish. Highly recommend!

Completion Date: 02/04/2016

Donkey Kong (1981)

Played as part of the 2016 Gaming Olympics.

Completion Date: 02/04/2016
Completion Time: 5 Minutes
System: Nintendo Entertainment System (NES)

Ghostbusters: The Video Game

This game, in my opinion, was excellent. Had all the original cast back doing the voices and you are the new recruit going along to figure out what is going on in the city. Pretty similar story to the movies, and the writing is spot on. Highly recommend if you're a fan of the movies. Otherwise, I'd pass.

Sanitarium

Sanitarium was a game I initially bought back when I was a teenager at Wal-Mart. They had just put out a bin of super cheap PC games and I picked this one up because I thought it sounded interested. I managed to play through it but I believe I quit because I got stumped at a point and because the internet wasn't really a big thing at that point, I couldn't use it to look up how to get past it. I had really enjoyed what I had played up until that point, but the game wasn't very great at leading you or giving visual cues. So I gave up.

Now in 2016, I decide to give it another shot and didn't seem to have as much of an issue this time around and actually managed to finish it. The game definitely didn't age well but was still awesome. Highly recommend, but be warned, the character moves really slow...so getting around can be a tedious chore!

South Park: The Stick of Truth

I'm not a huge fan of South Park, so for me, this game was something that didn't make it onto my radar until I saw it super cheap during a PSN sale last year. I had heard that it was really good so I decided to buy it and this year I finally gave it a shot.

If it wasn't for me playing Dark Souls 1 and 2, I would say this is easily my favorite game I've played this year. I had a blast with it and was totally engrossed in all aspects of it until the very end. I played through it twice as two different classes (Warrior and Jew). It had awesome RPG elements, good story, and was just incredibly fun overall. Highly recommend!

Golden Axe

This game is another solid beat 'em up entry that's short and sweet. Nothing crazy but recommend if you're looking for some mindless fun.

Completion Date: 02/17/2016
Completion Time: 25 Minutes
System: PlayStation 3

Streets of Rage 2

Just your basic beat them up. Huge fun but don't expect much in the way of story.

Completion Date: 02/25/2016
Completion Time: 1 Hour 8 Minutes
System: PlayStation 3

Sly Cooper and the Thievius Racoonus

I had never played a Sly game until I got the original trilogy on the PS3 and decided that this was the best place to start, since you know, it is the first game in the series.

I had a blast with this game. It was short, good story, fun characters, and the challenge felt right. I was happy that I finally got the opportunity to play this. I also managed to get all the trophies on this one.

Completion Date: 02/27/2016
Completion Time: 8 Hours 59 Minutes
System: PlayStation 3

Samorost 2

This game was good and short, but for me, it was pretty much a forgettable experience. I believe you had to save a dog or something, but again, don't really remember it too well.

Completion Time: 1 Hours 12 Minutes

Sly 2: Band of Thieves

Immediately after finishing the first Sly game, I decided to start up the sequel. This game felt similar to the first but you can definitely tell it had a much bigger budget than the first. More of an open world, more levels, more characters (more voices), and overall just a bigger game than the first one.

While I did think this game was great, I felt like a lot of the extras were constantly repeated or felt like a pain to finish. I know a lot of people would probably disagree with me that the second is the best of the series, but of the two I've played so far, I've enjoyed the first the best. I still want to play the third one at some point.

Puzzle Agent

I loved this game. The story was interesting, the puzzles were easy but not so easy that you could just breeze through it. Highly recommend if you enjoy puzzles and are looking for something relatively short to finish.

Beyond: Two Souls

A game that has been on my list for quite some time, I finally finished this one in 2016. It was a good game but arguably not nearly as good as other games, Heavy Rain or Indigo Prophecy, developed by Quantic Dream. It boasted solid voice acting and a good story...but for whatever reason, I just didn't think it was nearly as good.

The Deed

The Deed was a very cool but short game. The game is about your character coming home and trying out how to ensure that he gets his parent's inheritance instead of the sister.

Very short game but allows you to do various things to make the story end in all sorts of ways.

Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition

The 'Prepare to Die' portion of the title of this game is SO true and fits what will happen in this game. You will die a LOT but the beauty of this game is that each death results in learning and helps you to better strategize. I had never played a Souls game previously and was hooked the ENTIRE time. Probably my favorite game I've played this year.

This game took me 53 and a half hours. I felt like I did quite a bit but I'm sure there was SO much more I could have done. Highly recommend if you love challenge that, I believe, is fair.

Soul Gambler

Soul Gambler was a random game I bought and installed. Cool story with different actions affecting the overall outcome of the story. Once you played through it once (which was incredibly short, btw), you could repeat it even quicker leading to you being able to see all endings and such. I did manage to get all the achievements on this one.

Completion Date: 04/15/2016

Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse (2013)

This game was great, easy, and in my opinion, way too short. This was your typical save the princess type game.

It felt VERY much like Mario 64 but with more updated graphics. Highly recommend if you're looking for something short, a game that has little to no difficulty, and just looking to pass some time, this is your game.

This one took me right over 5 and a half hours.

Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin

After finishing Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition, I immediately bought this and delved right into the sequel. This game was just as amazing as the first one. Just as addictive for me as the first one and probably my second favorite game I have played in 2016.

This version contained all the DLC that was released. My opinion of the DLC was that it was WAY more difficult than the actual game itself. I blew through the original game in 41 hours. By the time I finished the additional two DLCs, I was right under 62 hours. Good amount of content in the DLC content, but the difficulty seemed to ramp up QUITE a bit and almost made them not seem nearly as fun. Probably why my perception of 2 isn't nearly as high as 1, but still LOVED 2.

Faerie Solitaire

Play this game ONLY if you love, and I mean, LOVE solitaire. Otherwise I would avoid. It has a story and some other stuff that somewhat adds some minor depth, but overall, this is a LOT of solitaire. Highly recommend playing in very small doses.

This took almost 14 hours. Almost 14 HOURS of solitaire. What the hell is wrong with me?

Alien Shooter 2: Conscription

A good, mindless shooter that I've had on my list to beat for some time. This one took me around 2 and a half hours. If you go into this one realizing what it is, it can be very fun.

Completion Date: 06/29/2016
Completion Time: 2 Hours 38 Minutes
System: PC/Windows - Steam

Dead Bits

While short, this game was pretty terrible. I had a good time with the shooting elements, but the platforming levels were just frustrating and felt strange. I can't recommend this game at all.

This took me 1 hour and 11 minutes.

The Chosen RPG

Standard RPG made using RPG Maker. Good story with your traditional turn based RPG elements.

The only odd thing about the game was the fact that all the characters were women and barely wore any clothing. Seemed strange but somehow it worked! :)

I got all the achievements for this one. It took me 3 hours and 56 minutes.

Completion Date: 07/05/2016

Double Dragon Neon

Great beat 'em up game. However, if you play this on a Windows 10 machine, make sure you install a patch or the game will crash after about 15 to 20 minutes and you'll lose your progress in whatever level you are playing. The game has some sort of leveling system that I thought was confusing, but hey, this is a beat 'em up and I'm not required to understand RPG elements in this game!

Wish I would have had the opportunity to play via co-op, but overall, a very fun game.

Escape Dead Island

Good game that deviated from the norm of what Dead Island and Dead Island: Riptide offered. This game has more of the art style of Borderlands with action and some minor elements of stealth. I know this game got TERRIBLE reviews (I can sort of understand why) but I enjoyed it quite well. The only thing that made me not like nearly as well was the ending as I thought the game just got too tedious and you couldn't skip the cut scenes.

Temper Tantrum!

Temper Tantrum is a game that revolves around you playing as a baby and collecting random things while not being touched by monsters. There are three levels and they constantly repeat. Pretty awful game but also really short (if you manage to realize to stop after the first three levels, that is).

Despair

First person adventure game with horror elements. My biggest issue with this game is the speed at which the character actually moves. Overall a pretty terrible game and can't even begin to recommend to anybody.

Moirai

This is a free-to-play game on Steam. Hadn't heard of it until someone on this site put it in as a stack.

This game is played in a first person view and the objective is to figure out what has happened to some folks who have gone missing in a nearby cave. The interesting twist is that your outcome is dictated by someone else who plays the game after you finish. It's a very different concept and really made me enjoy it more than I originally thought I would. Also, it is a very short game.
