Description

Games that I love that MAY be apparently massively unpopular, out of my age range, frowned upon by my family, etc.

Spyro the Dragon

This is probably one of the first video games I ever played. I used to live in the Northeast US, and they had these grocery stores called Big Y's. Big Y's typically had kids' areas called Little Y's, and guess what Little Y's had? Sony PlayStations! Everyone always wanted to play Spyro the Dragon, and I'm sure they had more than one copy. But I, being not-so-video-game-savvy at the time, basically mucked around in the Artisan lands and toasted sheep and fed Sparx. Not my greatest moment in gaming, but certainly a significant first step.

Dr. Seuss' The Cat in the Hat

I remember bringing this home for a second time and getting 100% within a day. Yeah, my family wasn't too thrilled about that. This is probably the first game I actually completionated in recent memory... well maybe not. That accomplishment may actually belong to...

LEGO Star Wars: The Video Game

This is the first video game I ever received. My siblings and I received a PlayStation 2 for Christmas in.. 2005, I think? My brother got The Adventures Of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius: Attack Of The Twonkies, my sister received DDR MAX 2, and I got LEGO Star Wars. I was so excited at the time, but those "nostalgia goggles" really don't work as well years down the line.

Metroid Prime

Ahh, Metroid Prime. This was the game that cemented my video game affinity. We had owned a Wii for about a year or two, and one summer I discovered that the Wii would play GameCube games as well. So I shared the information with my siblings, and we looked into getting some of the essentials, namely a controller and memory card. Our allowance at the time wasn't much, but we dared not complain. So we were able to get one controller, one memory card, and one game. I believe this was the game. Either this or Star Fox Adventures, whose main character is someone to whom my sister is very partial. :) My parents eventually made us trade this one in because it was a "first-person shooter" (not that you shot anything even remotely human), so I am looking to get this one again at some point.

Need for Speed: Underground 2

This one is actually enjoyed by pretty much everyone in my family, but for very different reasons. I like the soundtrack (I can already hear "Riders On The Storm" before even turning the console on), my sister loves creating bajillions of custom cars, and my brother thoroughly enjoys the multiplayer aspect. Probably not going to get rid of this one any time soon.
