Hello everyone,

You may have already heard about the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) that's about to go into effect. In preparation for this, I've greatly expanded upon the Privacy Policy that used to be a small comment on the About page. It now has a dedicated page and can be found here: http://www.completionator.com/Home/PrivacyPolicy.

As many of you already know, I have a career in software development and built / manage Completionator purely as my hobby project. It has never been intended as a way to collect / share data on anyone by nefarious means and never will be. It's purely provided for gamers and collectors out there to have a tool to manage their collections / backlog. I do not profit from the site in any way and pay for all server costs out of my own pocket. I genuinely enjoy working on the site and interacting with everyone here. I only mention all of this because I hope I've always been transparent as far as how the site operates and that you can be confident that your data is being handled with respect.

That being said, I felt I needed to beef up the Privacy Policy verbiage to comply with the impending regulations. Additionally, I've made a few changes throughout the site, many of which were already on my task list. The site previously had some integration with a few different third parties to provide more functionality, but I decided to sever most of those, just so I can feel more confident in how data is protected. That being said, the most noticeable change you'll see is that we no longer use Gravatar for displaying user images. The new user images will be stored with all other images (i.e. box art) that Completionator uses. You can upload an image from your Account Settings page, if you so choose.

Anyways, back to the new Privacy Policy. This is indicated in the policy itself, but if I ever need to update it, I will post here on the forums to let everyone know about it. I will also explain what exactly changed. The Privacy Policy will always have a "last updated" date at the bottom of it.

While the policy is pretty standard fare, I encourage you to take a minute to review it. If you have ANY questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. Feel free to post questions here, contact me on Steam, or send me an email at: info at completionator dot com.

Thanks for reading and happy gaming!

What file formats are usable for the avatars? I tried a small .png to no avail, but converting it to a .jpg worked fine.

Ah, I knew there was something I was forgetting I meant to add some text to the Account Settings page to indicate you need to select a .jpg file and that it will automatically be resized to 200x200. Ensuring a consistent format / size made things a lot easier on my end
