The Witness (2016)

Puzzles are one of my favourite genres and this was a nice follow-up to last year's playthrough of the Talos Principle. I honestly liked TTP a little better, but I think that was mainly due to their being a lot more story in it along with the fun puzzles.

Undertale

Great story, multiple endings, and some genuinely loveable characters along the way. Deserves the praise it gets.

Fez

Really late to the party on playing through this game, but it is a) gorgeous, b) challenging, and c) very friggin' cool. Shame that so much drama was associated with the developer as I would have liked to see what else could be done as a follow-up game.

Grim Fandango Remastered

Grim Fandango, like most adventure games, holds a dear place in my heart as I lived and breathed these games during my middle gaming years, back in the days when Sierra owned my wallet, followed closely by LucasArts. The remaster does it justice and the commentary mode was genuinely interesting (most of the time, at least!)

LEGO Batman: The Videogame

I'm a sucker for LEGO games, but as a completionist, they tend to take a while for me to actually finish due to the sheer amount of collecting to be done. This one's a bit rougher around the edges than some of the more modern releases, but still very enjoyable!

Chronicles of Teddy: Harmony of Exidus

Sleeper hit of the year for me. Got it for dirt cheap on the PSN during a sale for a few bucks and it was worth it (at that price.) Great metroid-vania styled game that features a new game+ where the game is legitimately altered to make it harder (as opposed to simply making enemies into damage sponges, or something equally lame.)

PixelJunk Shooter Ultimate

I've generally enjoyed everything made by PixelJunk, and Shooter so far was my favorite (as evidenced by the fact I went out of my way to completionate it!) I need to get going on the others that I've only partially played through...

Terraria

I like survival and builder type games, especially ones that have oodles of interesting mods (I'm looking at you Minecraft!) Ended up getting this on console to play with friends, friends stopped playing almost immediately... go figure. Be interesting to see what the console update is like when it finally releases...

Human Resource Machine

Oh look, another puzzle game! Made by the same folks who did Little Inferno, which you can tell immediately by the art style. It's a fun logic puzzler that despite it's cutesy graphics is pretty darned challenging. Like Zachtronics games challenging... and that's a good thing!

Night Trap: 25th Anniversary Edition

Brutally simple controls and gameplay. At times lax and other times frenetic with the necessary timing to avoid missing a bad guy. The acting is super cheesy, like watching a B horror movie, only even lower budget. The fact that this was paraded alongside Mortal Kombat by senile old farts as evidence that video games were a bad influence is just icing on the cake. 25th anniversary edition has a lot of extra content to unlock if you're a fan of the original game!
