Description

Just a list of games I keep going back to because I love them. (I'll update this eventually it's going to be way longer)

The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind

The deepest of all the Elder Scrolls games when it comes to lore. The spell and enchanting system was also fully customizable. With the only downside being it's random roll combat, and lack of voice acting, those who are okay with reading and don't mind dealing with the RNG, Morrowind is easily one of the most interesting RPGs I've every played.

Phantasy Star Online Episode I & II Plus

Phantasy Star Online was one of the first online games I really spent time with. I played through many times, solo, online on Xbox, and with friends locally on the GameCube. PSO:I&II Plus is the "best" version that you can get since it has all the content up to it's release, and doesn't require you to be online(You can technically play Blue Burst offline, but it is single player only) This game has hundreds of hours of content, and its super fun to hang out and play with friends.

NightCaster: Defeat the Darkness

A solid action game, with a moderately interesting story, decent visuals, and unique gameplay. The best way I can describe it is if Ikaruga was an RPG. The game has a unique 4 color mechanic where you have to juggle casting spells from 4 different spell schools, Water, Fire, Dark, and Light. Enemies also have one of these colors. Opposing spell schools do double damage(Dark does double to light enemies) adjacent spell schools do normal(Dark does normal to fire and water) and does nothing to the same spell school. This forces you to constantly be switching spells based on the enemies you are currently fighting.

Sonic Adventure

I really enjoy Sonic Adventure, now even with nostalgia blinders off, I see that the game is buggy, the dialogue is horribly delivered, and the animations are super jank, but I still enjoy the game regardless. I like the stages, the music, and the gameplay.

Advance Wars

The original Advance Wars was a Gem, one of my favorite strategy games. The characters are fun, the battles are really well designed, throwing many different scenarios at you. Not much else to say, It's totally worth playing if you can find a copy!

Starbound

A side scrolling adventure combined with terrain manipulation, base building, and so much more. Starbound is an extension of the Minecraft-like, and shares many similarities with Terraria, but It's on this list because Starbound has MANY quality of life improvements over Terraria, making the game much more polished. The only complaint I have is some of the quests in the middle of the story can be hard to beat without a guide or getting really lucky.

Sonic Shuffle

Mario Party, but with less RNG. This is a really fun party game especially with 4 people on original hardware, if you can manage it. Each player gets a hand of cards with numbers on it, these are used to move along the board. Unlike the dice in Mario Party, choosing a card can be calculated, if you choose a 4 you will move exactly 4 spaces. There's monster battles, mini games, events, and board specific emergencies, which are all lots of fun. I recommend playing with humans as the computers even on easy tend to be REALLY hard to win against, and I find the game most enjoyable when we have a group.

MechAssault

MechAssault is so much fun, it's a great action shooter, with an interesting story, and lots of different mechs to play. I play through the story every so often just because it's fun to blow stuff up. Also easily one of the best looking games on the original Xbox

MechAssault 2: Lone Wolf

Everything I love about MechAssault 1 but with some new features including things like some missions that let you get out of your mech and get into other mechs.

Phantasy Star Universe

With Universe's servers shut down, PSU is STILL has a very fun single player campaign! The hack and slash game has bunches of changes from PSO, the biggest being classes, the addition of a new race, and tons of special attacks for melee weapons. Definitely a fun game that I go back and replay even now that the servers are down.

Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee

A game that is both strange and amazing. This itteration of the Oddworld series, is a 3D platformer that has you play as both Munch the Gabbit, and Abe the Mudokon. This game is a 3D platformer, where the goal is to save the Fuzzles and other Mudokons, from the evil Vykers Labs. It's hard to say more about the gameplay because at it's core, it's just a 3D platformer, and not exactly a solid one, but the slapstick comedy and hilarious premise keeps the game interesting.

The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons

I have to add Oracle of Seasons as well, I found this one to be easier, than Ages, so I usually recommend this one first and then Ages. All the things I said about ages is the same with Seasons, except with season changing instead of time. The items are unique and the depth is really surprising for a GameBoy Color game.

The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages

In my opinion easily one of the best Zelda games ever made. The game had so much depth to it, the items were unique and the time mechanic was spot on. The game had so many side things and places to explore to unlock all the items and extras. Then you can use a link cable to connect to Seasons and you unlock things that you couldn't have gotten before.

Jet Set Radio Future

This game is just too fun. The story is wild, the gameplay is fast, the music is awesome. This game is honestly a masterpiece and I am shocked they haven't done an HD remaster for modern consoles. You play as a street gang known as the GGs and the game starts with some turf wars between some rival gangs, you go around tagging locations across the game, and eventually fight it out with each gang. The police get involved and things get a little crazy. It's definitely worth picking up an Original Xbox just to play this at least once! Jet Set Radio/Jet Grind Radio has been re-released on multiple systems, but I think JSRF improves on the gameplay a TON by making levels more interesting, tagging is much faster, and the grinding mechanics are just easier, making JSRF much more fun to play.
