I figured I'd start one big thread for discussing various sales going on without there eventually being a bunch of threads for outdated sales. To start off, how did you guys do in the recent GoG Insomnia Sale? Here's my list for whoever's interested: Paid:
Free:
Some of that, I already had on Steam, but hey. At least now I have extras and a backup if something ever were to happen to my Steam account. Might have gotten more, except I also just picked up Guild Wars 2 and Saints Row IV for 75% off each. GW2 was as much as a single month of WoW, so I figured it was a great time to try it. So how'd you do? |

They had freebies again this time around? Guess I should have paid more attention, haha. I did get the games I wanted out of that sale though, X-Wing + Tie Fighter, and purely out of nostalgia, Legend of Kyrandia: Book One. Wallet escaped this sale relatively unscathed compared to normal. |

I was a little backed up on some GOG games, so I bought quite a few: Jade Empire: Special Edition Of course, I already own a number of those, but hey, the convenience of DRM-free is too tempting :P |

The freebies were a bit hidden. Basically, when you tried to buy a game, you had a random chance of the site telling you you would get the game for free. Reportedly, you only had such a chance the first time you attempted to buy it. I had no luck at all Saturday or Sunday, so I wondered if they turned off the freebies then. I'm wanting to get the X-Wing games myself... maybe in another sale. Compared to other games on GoG, they just aren't worth $10 a shot. And my purchase of Legend of Kyrandia Book One has a bit of a personal story behind it. Years and years ago, a friend and I found out, at least with the non-CD Rom version, that all the game's dialogue was unencrypted in one of the data files if you used a Hex Editor on it. So we had all sorts of wacky fun after actually completing the game just randomly editing the dialogue in certain places. |

Yeah I certainly wouldn't have picked up the Star Wars games if they had been more than $5 each during the sale. Spending $5 was certainly easier than finding a floppy drive, hooking it up to my pc, installing the game, and then configuring dosbox to maybe work correctly. :) edit: I used to have fun messing with games that had easily accessible data. I remember replacing all the sound effects to Warcraft 2 with various recorded stupidity at my friend's house since he owned a microphone. Good times.

Anyone pick anything up in the Spring Sale over at https://www.humblebundle.com/store yet? I bought GRAV the other day and it seems like it has some nice potential, even though it's in early access. I might have to snatch the daily deal for TowerFall Ascension, I've had my eye on that one for a while now. Oh and someone should get Sanctum 2 and help me beat it :P |

GRAV does look pretty neat, but I've seen so many clones of the whole "explore and build" genre come out half-baked since Minecraft blew up that I get a bit leery of whether they'll get supported beyond the very basics. I totally missed out on gmg's cheapo bundles they had today. 3 bundles of 10 small games of very varied quality for $0.50 each. Apparently two of the three bundles sold out in a matter of hours though.

I didn't pick up anything from the Humble Store sale myself, but the $1 tier of the new Humble Paradox Bundle looked pretty good. |

Regarding survival / sandbox games, Humble has TUG on sale for $0.99! It looks interesting and for a buck, I couldn't resist. I picked up Rising World the other day on Humble and it's pretty good so far. If anyone has any of those or 7 Days to Die, we should play sometime :D |

What are your impression of TUG so far? For it to get such a huge discount, it makes me suspect the devs are seeking out one last payday before they abandon it since it wasn't doing well. |

I haven't even installed TUG yet :P It looked like devs were still active on the Steam forums, but it's still a little concerning that it had such a crazy discount. But at $1, I'm okay with it since I've been interested in it for a while now. I might try to install it today and give it a whirl. |

I don't know if anyone else is looking for an Xbox 360 who doesn't already have one given that it's "last gen" right now... but I was just looking and I saw a pretty nice one on GameStop. $110 for a 20 GB 360 (which I would definitely upgrade later), and ELEVEN games: Far Cry 3, Dead Rising 2, Call of Duty: World At War, Forza 4: Essentials Edition, Halo Reach, Saints Row the Third, Assassin's Creed 3, Aliens: Colonial Marines, Borderlands 2, Grand Theft Auto IV and Battlefield 3. I already have DR2, SR3, GTA4 and BF3 on PC, and Borderlands 2 through PS Plus, but still pretty tempting, especially since I used to have a 360, and have games on my Xbox Live account to download. It says regular price is $252.87. Here's the link if anyone's interested: http://www.gamestop.com/xbox-360/consoles/xbox-360-20gb-refurbished-blast-from-the-past-system-mega-bundle/120796 |

The GOG summer sale has arrived! http://www.gog.com Nothing for me on Day 1, but I'm hopeful that Outlaws will go on sale so I can finally retire my physical disc :)

Too bad it's not another Insomnia sale. Those are fun. It is worth noting on the GOG Summer Sale that they're offering "free" games. Spend $10 in the sale and get SimCity 2000 Special Edition (which everyone should have because it was an Origin "On the House" game) Spend $20 and get S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear Sky Spend $50 and get Xenonauts |

Didn't want to pollute the board with a new thread just for this, but https://www.bundlestars.com/en/bundle/killer-bundle-6 is pretty sweet for the price. The 3D Realms Anthology alone is worth it! |

It seems like I remember reading somewhere that the 3D Realms Anthology was going to be removed from Steam by the end of the year. If that's true, then this is an even better deal, and it was already a really good one. Great find! |

I think the Anthology will stick around, but they're removing the Duke games from it since Gearbox owns the rights now. |

So what'd you guys pick up from the Steam Winter Sale? I cleaned off my Wishlist quite a bit with multiple low level purchases myself, as well as a couple of cheap impulse buys.
Really cleaned up on gifts during the sale though.
And in the middle of all that, picked up the full Humble Square Enix Bundle 3, hence the couple of extras I'm giving away in the key drop thread. |

Once again I thought "oh I probably won't buy much, if anything"....WRONG!
And my gifts :D
I also bought Quake Live, but I have since refunded it.

I kept my personal spending to a minimum since I tend to do game gift exchanges this time of year instead, so the vast majority of my spending was to buy games for others, haha. I did fill out a few of my games' DLC though. Bought for myself:
Received as gifts:

With Black Friday almost here, I know deals are posted everyday. I thought I'd revive this thread in case anybody manages to see something they think is a deal. |

Shipping kills the deal for me. It's like 7.99 to ship two games. yuck |
