Hey everyone, I have a few ideas for enhancing the Overview page that have been on my short list for a really long time now and wanted to throw them out here. First off, let's talk about the existing sections:
Okay, so I have two main things I want to add to this page. First off, I'd like to add a "Backlog Status" section. This would replace the Collection Overview section altogether. This section would contain a list of all of the systems you own games for and would display a bar (very similar to what's on there now and the Stats page) to break down the system based on completion status. Each platform would be displayed on a single line (unlike the Stats page) and space would be tightened up a bit. The bar would be clickable and take you to your Collection page, pre-filtered. The other thing is a new "Friends" section. I'm not sure if that's what it'll be called, but that's what I'm using for now. This might actually replace Activity Feed, not sure yet. The idea here is to display each of your friends, along with a few (5 or less) of their recent activity items. You would also see their name, avatar, and some basic stats like how many games they're playing right now, their most recent forum post, etc. Once I have the commenting system in place, you'd also be able to quickly enter a comment here. Phew, I think that's it. Let me know what you guys think on these or if you have any other ideas for how we can beef up this page! |

0.5% of my collection is marked as "previously owned" so while I use it, I won't be terribly upset to no longer see it on the overview page. That little yellow sliver is near meaningless, haha. If I'm understanding you correctly here, your plan is to essentially take the Completions bar + Platform Breakdown and combine them into a more useful hybrid section? Sounds good! My personal preference/request/begging would be to have more detailed information that is split to show different distribution types. Maybe break up PC as steam, origin, gog, other, and of course, physical, as well as splitting the newer consoles into two separate columns, one for physical, and one for digital. It always bugs me to see a giant PC column despite the huge amount of variety that it represents. Would also help remind me that I do have games in places other than Steam. :P Friends section sounds like it would be pretty cool, especially once comments are a feature. If the game clubs / challenges you brought up a while back ever take off as a feature, it would be great to have that show up in your friends profiles as well!

Yep, your description of "the Completions bar + Platform Breakdown and combine them into a more useful hybrid section" is exactly right and I wish I had thought of describing it that way :P I love your idea of breaking out the digital providers, so I'll definitely do that for each platform! I had originally wanted this to be just your backlog, rather than your entire collection, but I think I'm going to build it like the Stats page and make the backlog a toggle-able option. I could even remember your selection, to accommodate both gamers and collectors (but that might not be in the first release). |

I just rolled out phase 1 of these changes, which is focused on the revamped Collection Overview widget. I'm not crazy about the overpowering nature of the red bar, but maybe that's just because I have so many incomplete games haha! Let me know what you guys think. |

Looks fantastic, I am a fan of it already. One itty bitty teensy weensy change I'd like to request however. Please sort it in some way, preferably alphabetical? Having ps4 physical listed 10 entries below ps4 digital is a bit silly :) |

The way it should be sorted now is by # of games, so your largest collection is on top. I copied that logic from the Stats page, but also thought it was kinda weird to see all of my PC formats scattered throughout. I can modify it to be alphabetical for now and then maybe add an option later on, like I'm going to do with the backlog. |

I just pushed out an update so it should be sorting alphabetically now. It looks much better :D |

Didn't notice this change\thread before but the changes are great! The platform breakdown is much more useful now and gives you an nice view where your games are distributed. Some suggestions for the white area's ( I at least have them): Some might better suited for the stats page though

Those are some great suggestions! The "last x" things are sort of covered in the Activity Feed (for now, at least), but it might make sense to break them out a little better. I'm especially interested in the list usage, I think that could be neat to display. Do you think it should just show a pie chart with a slice for each list, or maybe display a bar just like the Collection Overview does and break down the games by completion type? |

I'm going to go ahead and resurrect this thread since it contains some of the ideas I have for the upcoming community enhancements. I think overhauling the Overview page is a big part of what I'd like to do. I have many more ideas, so I'll try to add them here in the coming days. |
