To go along with the Autumn Steam Sale, we're giving away some Steam games! Each giveaway has its own thread with a simple question / challenge for you to complete. Really all you need to do is post in the thread and then I'll randomly select someone. In order to participate, you need to post by 11:59PM EST on 11/30/15. That gives you one more sale day, just in case you want to buy the game if you don't win it ;) I'll post in the thread once a winner has been randomly chosen and the gifts will be sent directly through Steam (unless you prefer email).

In case you didn't know, I really like video games. I enjoy collecting them, playing them, looking at them, discovering them, etc. So it should come as no surprise that I've bought many games, both digital and physical, based solely on the artwork / box / case. The game offered here is one such game. I know absolutely nothing about this game, but I can tell from the cover that the art style is neat! So have you ever bought a game just by looking at the artwork and having no other information about it? If so, how did it work out for you?

I can't recall a game I bought SOLELY for the artwork... usually there's something else. Good word of mouth, respected franchise or publisher, low price, etc.

Don't count this as an entry for this particular game raffle, as I already have it on ps4. I just wanted to share my answer since I'm going through the bunch!

Patapon for the PSP, I knew absolutely nada about the game and thought it was some kind of simple RPG, I'd also just received a PSP as a gift and wanted a game to play on it. Soon discovered Patapon was more of a rhythm game with some tactical elements. Hated it at first, but it grew on me quickly and I ended up playing through the whole thing and ultimately enjoyed it, especially when it got genuinely challenging towards the end.

Special mention goes to Phalanx for the SNES. I kept seeing it at my local video rental place and rented it because I was expecting some kind of hilarious redneck space shooter. Ended up with mediocre space game that paled in comparison to R-Type, Darius Twin, and other favourites at the time.

@boffo97 - Winner! (by default, ha!) I still know nothing about this game, but...have fun!

@dhobo - I somehow missed your comment on Patapon. I also went in blind to that one. I bought it because it was cheap, the artwork looked neat, and I had heard good things (though nothing about the gameplay, apparently). I was surprised that it was a rhythm game as well, but it was pretty neat. I didn't get very far since I always seem to forget about handhelds, but it had some promise. And I would agree that the box art for Phalanx is totally....not accurate.
