I definitely got through the first 'episode' and thought I was done. Thanks Moho_00 for making me realize I wasn't....and how to play the game with MUCH better graphics.

Done. The game ended up screwing up after I had got through acquiring the fourth rune and acted like I didn't get 1 and 2. So I had to use a cheat code to get me to the last boss. I will say the last boss/area was pretty challenging. Aside from that, pretty reasonable in the normal difficulty. Good game.

Question: Is Quake 3 just multi-player?

More or less, yeah. It's an arena shooter, so you can either play multiplayer or against bots, just like Unreal Tournament. It sort of has a campaign, I mean you play through a bunch of levels (I guess all of them?) against pre-determined bots and ultimately have a 1 on 1 showdown. Again, it's pretty much the same as the Unreal Tournament campaign, though it's only deathmatch, if I recall correctly.

Verrrrry late to the party on this one, but gog.com just had the Quakes on sale and given they have a functioning soundtrack (unlike steam which requires effort to fix) I couldn't say no! Loved this game when I was younger, so this'll be a treat.

edit: Well, guess I should have looked into it more. Seems like I had to do the cd-audio fixes regardless of where I get this game. Figured with gog, as awesome as they usually are, they would have done this for the release. At least they include the audio cd image to work with!

Alright, episode one complete! Definitely taking my time and smelling the roses on this run. Trying to do a 100% kills / 100% secrets run. Not tackling Nightmare though, I want to actually get this done in time for the bounty. I'll save the Nightmare difficulty run for later, I've accumulated entirely too much rust since the last time I played this. Controls took a while to get used to, felt really "floaty"

Very nice! 100% secrets would be tough, I don't think I found very many of them and I generally explore a bit (although it's hard when rockets are flying at you hehe).

It's gonna be interesting now that I'm past the first episode. I remembered most of the secrets from last time I played this ages ago, but I have no real recollection of episodes 2-4 or their secrets, so it'll go a lot slower while I pick apart the levels.

The only secrets that I wish I had found was the secret levels. I know each episode had a secret level but I definitely rushed through the game too fast to try and find them.

Alrighty, episode 2 complete! Still aiming for 100% secrets/100% kills. However, I could not for the life of me find 2 enemies on the third stage no matter how hard I looked. Wasted a good 5 minutes running around what seemed like a cleared level. Oh well!

Episode 3 down. Vores are a pain in the butt, but overall, it feels like levels are getting shorter/easier with respect to figuring out the minor puzzle elements in favour of more mostly unavoidable traps and damage.

I found the last level to be pretty challenging on normal. I felt like there was too many enemies.

Episode 4 was pretty nuts, I have a feeling my nightmare playthrough might stall there. Normal was pretty fun though!

I forgot how terrible the end boss was in this game. What a lame fight, lol

All done!
