I just got my first android device, very low specs and not hooked up to a data plan, and I'm looking to dip my toes into android games. Anyone have any good recommendations? Free preferably. Angry Birds and Cut the Rope are obviously on my radar but I assume I've missed a lot since mobile games first became a "thing". Also, I noticed when browsing through games here that no mobile devices are listed under platforms. Do you consider mobile games as part of your video game collection or just diversions that don't count as "real" games? |

I've mostly avoided gaming on my android devices, the only one I've put any significant time into (until it got monotonous at least) was Fallout Shelter. Not sure how well that would run on a low-spec device though. Mine is an older eee Asus Transformer Pad. Tried a handful of other free games, but the amount of spam from ads and harassment for buying premium items/upgrades got tiresome quickly. That said, if you can stomach being pestered by ads, some of the ones I tried that seemed interesting were:
I can't speak for moho_00, but given how many flash and mobile games now end up on steam and other digital providers, the line is getting pretty blurred as to what's a "real" game and what isn't. I mean, of the four titles I listed above, only PvZ2 lacks a PC version, as far as I know. Adding mobile would be a pretty big undertaking for the site and I suspect if moho_00 goes ahead with it that it will be limited to only adding games that are specifically requested by users since otherwise we'd end up having to add thousands upon thousands of garbage "games" that are flooding the mobile markets right now. |

I actually don't think I've ever used my phone to play a game before. I've used my iPad to play Mahjong Solitaire, but not sure that counts :P If I did use my phone for gaming, I don't know that I would necessarily consider them part of my collection, unless they had a decent amount of content, like the ones dhobo mentioned. I guess what I'm saying is I would exclude things like Mahjong Solitaire since there's about a million of them available and they all have essentially the same name. However, there ARE solid games on mobile platforms, many of which end up getting a PC port (just look at the Neo Geo Humble Bundle, pretty sure most of those were mobile ports). So in that regard, I'm fine with loading in games on an as-needed basis. I would prefer to not load in EVERY mobile game like we are for consoles since it would definitely overwhelm the game list hehe. I know when I try to find stuff on GameFAQs, I always have to exclude mobile or else the search results are impossible to review. I'm fine with adding in Android and iOS as platforms (maybe Windows Phone too?) though, if you would like to track those games here :) |

I think that would be great to add iOS and Android as platforms. I play some solid games on iOS, not just the crappy time wasters and would love to include those in my catalog. |

In my opinion, I find it worth adding mobile games to my collection list when they are paid. However, there are certainly free games which CAN be beaten/completed so there is room for them on the site. Of course, given how ubiquitous the App Store is (and, increasingly, Google Play) if we tried to add everything then that would overwhelm all other game database addition efforts. As people suggest them, add them in totally, but probably don't go out of your way to implement thousands right off the bat :). |
