I do not understand the conclusion to this game. What the heck was going on?

For those curious about the time commitment... I beat They Breathe in 35 minutes. With that said, I died quite frequently before figuring out a good way to take out the enemies.

I have no idea what's going on in the ending, but it was certainly a weird little game :P
