I've used it to play a bunch of the old Doom engine games and it works really well. In fact, I played through The Ultimate Doom a few years ago. I think I'm gonna give it another go though so I can get myself a completion time :P

I did a co-op run of this with my friend just over a year ago. We used Zandronum. Was a lot of fun with the brutal doom mod installed :D

Good call on the Brutal Doom mod! I've been wanting to try that one out.

I want to accept this but I think I'm going to play Blood instead. If I can get through that relatively fast, I might try to go through this one too.

Is this the original Doom game?

It's Doom 1 with all four episodes, essentially. Originally, there were only 3 episodes in Doom, but they added a fourth later on, Ultimate Doom was just the new boxed version that came with the 4th as well.

I started playing the other day and I ended up just using Doomsday with no other mods. It didn't look like Brutal Doom was compatible with Doomsday and I was feeling lazy :P I'm gonna have to get it loaded at some point just to play around with it though.

Anyways, I've played for a little over 2 hours and I'm into the 3rd episode. I always seem to forget how confusing some of these levels can be haha. It's not as bad Wolfenstein 3D, but I definitely use the map a lot.

Yeah, you're pretty much limited to Zandronum or GDoom (Gzdoom? I can't remember the name) if you want to play Brutal Doom.
