I ended up using, I think, 5 credits on this game...So while I didn't use all 9 that were allotted for the cheat, it did save me in the end and allowed me to finish it!

Out of curiosity, what version is everyone playing? And what version is the one on Steam? I've played through the Genesis version as well as the arcade version XBLA port. I remember playing this a lot as a kid... Should be easy to run through it again real fast.

I played the Genesis version that is on a collection for the PS3.

Same here, I'm going to play it on Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection...but on Xbox 360.

I tried to play it on Steam but it took too much time to map the controls so I just decided to play it on my PS3 copy.
