Hello! I'm new to Completionator and I'm absolutely loving it so far. What initially drew me to the site is the integration with VGPC and the ability to have a running estimated total value on my collection. In any event, thanks to the administrators for building such a great site and cultivating such a welcoming community. |

Dang, this guy actually beat me to this request. Yes, I know this might be difficult with consoles that have variants (such as the different 3DO models), but I'd love to have consoles, controllers, and peripherals included in collection values if at all possible. |

First off, welcome to the site, @coreyjamz! I always love hearing positive feedback from new users, it makes it all worthwhile to see fellow gamers / collectors getting some use out of this site :) This is something I've considered doing and has been requested in the past, but it's just a matter of figure out how to do it. I think the core idea here is absolutely within the scope of what the site is trying to accomplish, so it's a matter of implementation. We recently added support for Amiibo and other "toys-to-life" type stuff and those are in the gray area between hardware and software. I mention this because under the hood, those things are treated as games, so they're on the same level as say Super Mario Bros. The only difference is we can assign a "type", which somewhat separates them in the database and we can eventually do things to separate them on the interface (right now all you can do is filter with the type). So the easiest solution would be to just add a new "type" for hardware (or maybe one for "console" and one for "accessory", maybe others, not sure) and treat these things as "games". We'd need to rebrand some of the UI here to accommodate this change (i.e. the "Browse Games" page would need to be renamed) OR build completely separate pages for hardware types. So maybe a "Browse Hardware" menu item or something. We'd need to enforce some rules so you couldn't enter a playthrough or completion for a piece of hardware since that wouldn't make any sense. Other things like stacks and wish list would probably be fine to include these types, so it would just depend on the feature. That would allow me to add all of the items to the database, so then it's down to VGPC integration for pulling in the values. And that's where things get a little tricky, as @jkersey450 mentioned. VGPC appears to break down some of the consoles, like the N64, but the 3DO is a single entry. It looks like there are entries for N64 controllers, but not 3DO controllers. I would image that 3rd party accessories are even more hit-or-miss. So in the end, it may not be perfect, but hey, it's an "estimated" value anyways ;) |

Yeah, I'm not really sure what the best implementation would be considering that current layout of the side is specifically designed for games, but I'd love to see it in any capacity. An estimated value is certainly good enough for me. I hope the site continues to grow. I'm pointing everyone this direction. |
