I've gone through every single game in my collection and updated everything I could. I put every game into one of four lists. Games I'll Probably Never Play Again, Games I Want to Play More, Games I've Completed and Games I'll Play Forever.

But now I'm at tags and I'm not sure where I want to go with them. I can do RPG, Action, etc. I can do a tag for games with Achievements or games with Trading Cards or games that make me so very angry (I'm looking at you Isaac).

Just curious if anyone is using different tags that aren't as standard as the above.

I generally use tags for genres as a minimum. I take it down to the subgrene too, so if it's a "sports" game, I'll specify what type of sport it is. For RPGs, I'll often include things like "dungeon crawler", "japanese", "tactical", etc. Also, I keep all of my tags in lower-case, including abbreviations like "rpg".

Aside from genre, I also include thematic material, though I'm not nearly as consistent with those. I try to tag things like "aliens", "zombies", "dinosaurs", etc.

I don't use tags for tracking progress, I use them exclusively for describing the game itself and its content.

I've not used the tags just yet (want to input entire collection first) but my intent will be to use them for genre distinctions thus far. I like your idea of splitting games into "play" categories, though! Might end up adding that sort of thing too. Thanks for sharing how you use tags, Ralsar :).
