Although I don't really do anything for the actual holiday anymore, I like to indulge in various forms of horror-themed media around this time each year. I've been playing plenty of horror-themed games thanks to the bounties, but now it's time for me to step up with movies and music.

I used to just listen to a lot of stuff like Rob Zombie, White Zombie, Murderdolls, Death, etc. But in recent years, I've become a rather large fan of synthwave / retro synth / darksynth / whatever you want to call it. I'm talking about things like Perturbator, Gost, Mega Drive, Carpenter Brut, etc.

As for movies, I think I'm gonna watch The Babadook since I've been wanting to check it out for a while now. I'm contemplating a purchase of the Halloween collection on blu-ray, although I've never been a huge fan of the series...but it's been a looong time since I've seen most of them.

I've always been intrigued by Freaks and since it's probably never going to be on Prime Video or Netflix, I suppose I'll just have to rent / buy it if I want to watch it.

One of my favorite horror series is Phantasm and I haven't watched those in a few years, so perhaps they should be on the list as well :P

Oh and I can't forget Treehouse of Horror!!

I love Perturbator! I listen to mostly my pagan folk this time of year. But also psychobilly and horror punk. And always black metal :P

The Babadook is a spectacular movie imo. Freaks (1932) is great too, and it seems to usually show up on Netflix this time of year... I think. One of my favorites is the Phantasm series too!

My Halloween essential films are: the original Halloween, Trick R Treat, Pumpkinhead, Night of the Demons (1988), and more recently Tales of Halloween and The WNUF Halloween Special.

It doesn't look like Freaks is on Netflix right now :(

I was pleasantly surprised by Trick R Treat. I really didn't expect it to be any good, but it's a great Halloween movie. I think Nightbreed is on one of the streaming services, I need to watch that one.

Oh yeah Nightbreed is awesome. And I think Netflix has the director's extended cut of Nightbreed now. I need to watch that too :)

Just remembered Phantasm V: Ravager is coming out soon!
