What they showed did look good, I was just disappointed that Zelda was the only launch title. After sitting out the wii u, I'm pretty confident I'll buy the switch. Just not at launch.

Zelda looks really really good. Makes me wish Nintendo was a software publisher only and didn't waste time with gimmicky hardware.

I skimmed through the presentation this morning and I have to say, I was rather underwhelmed by it all. Don't get me wrong, I'm still excited for the console and already have one preordered from Best Buy. I just thought the presentation was a little meh and they didn't focus on the things I felt they should have in order to get others excited. I felt they spent too much time talking about the hardware (which everyone more or less knew about with the last video) and games I have little to no interest in playing. Anyways, here are my random thoughts while it's all fresh:

  • Let's get the biggie out of the way...unless there are a ton of 3rd party announcements to bolster the launch lineup, this has to be one of the worst lineups ever. I've seen conflicting lists, but it sounds like Zelda, 1-2-Switch, Skylanders Imaginators, and Just Dance 2017 for sure, plus maybe some indie games. That's pretty rough.
  • 1-2-Switch looks like a very unique game, but no way it's worth $50 (which appears to be the MSRP). I skipped over some of its presentation, but is there even a single player mode? Based on the gameplay, I assume not? It's a neat idea and I could see it being fun, but not worth the price and looks like a tech demo or digital game more than a retail game.
  • Arms looks interesting as well, but again, not a $60 game. I love seeing new IP, but this one is just underwhelming. I would've rather had a single player Punch-Out! game.
  • Super Mario Odyssey looks weird, but great, can't wait for that one
  • Xenoblade 2 is cool and all, but I've yet to finish a Xeno game
  • I know ports are going to happen, but there's just too many compared to new games. I know I'll buy Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, but why not give us Mario Kart 9 :P
  • I'm a little burnt out on the Warriors games, how about a normal Fire Emblem game that I can play on a TV? A new Shining Force would be acceptable too, but we all know Sega has no interest in doing that.
  • Zelda looks incredible and easily the jewel in all of this. The only problem is, I already have a Wii U, so again, it's not like I'm getting some new, exclusive gameplay experience. It still looks like a GOTY contender and one of my most anticipated games of the year.

One final note, I didn't see it in the video (I skimmed through, remember), but apparently there's a new Bomberman game? I can get on board with that!

I haven't seen much other than the initial video, but it kind of worries me when Moho_00 is underwhelmed since he is probably one of the biggest fans of Nintendo that I know.

It is awesome that Zelda will be a launch title is pretty impressive. Most of the other games I've seen have been stuff I know I won't enjoy.

Curious how Skyrim will sell considering it's been out for years and probably performs better on most of the rest of the competition and is probably already much cheaper to boot.

Regarding Skyrim, I think Bethesda/Nintendo is banking on the only potentially novel selling point of it being a "Skyrim you can play on the go"

Having played the ever-living crap out of Skyrim already, I really don't need to dump more time/money into it, even if it does have a portable option now. I could possibly see some solid reasoning here if the game was only a year or two old, but it's bloody ancient!

Anyone else get weirded out by the city level mario odyssey stuff? It looked so... inappropriate for a Mario game.

@Dhobo - I thought the exact same thing. I'm curious how that will play into the game. They always do well with the Mario titles so I'm sure it'll be good....but it did seem strange.

So far I've preordered The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (of course) and The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth+. I played The Binding of Isaac a long time ago and considering how hard that game is, I did the bare minimum to call it complete. I'm not sure why I'm interested in picking this version up, but whatever. It seems like it'll be a nice game to have on my shelf :D

Once Amazon or Best Buy puts up a preorder for Super Bomberman R, I might get that one too...depending on the price.

A Mario game set in a big city... A open-world Zelda game... I don't know... I guess we'll have to see.

A game I am really looking forward to is RiME...and even that isn't a Switch exclusive :/

But honestly with how good Zelda looked I won't complain...that will be the only game I need for a few months haha.

Regarding Mario Odyssey, I honestly felt for a few moments that it was Mario is Missing HD Remastered or something with it taking place in the city. Then it occurred to me that it also somewhat looked like Sonic Adventure when Sonic is able to free roam the city lol.

The Switch reveals were so hit and miss for me. The Kinect-style games had me rolling my eyes, but then they'd show Splatoon 2 or Breath of the Wild. Mario Odyssey is so baffling. It honestly strikes me like one of the recent/bad Sonic games. They both have a cartoony character walking around a real city with realistic people that make them stick out terribly. Heck, they even gave Mario a rolling spindash like Sonic.

But then came Sonic Mania, where they made it like the old Genesis games. So Sonic is old Sonic, and Mario is new Sonic.

Honestly, the idea of getting a Switch was completely out of the question until the reveal for Fire Emblem Warriors.

Well, I sunk 4+ hours into Saturn Bomberman yesterday since I'm pumped for his return and I'm pretty sure I'll pick that one up at launch...though I hope its $59.99 price is a placeholder. It appears to be a GameStop exclusive (not 100% on that yet), which sucks since I won't get 20% off :P

So that's hopefully The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Super Bomberman R, and maybe The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+ (assuming it actually comes out on launch day, not really sure at this point).

Zelda should alone keep me busy until the next big title hits, which is Mario Kart 8 Deluxe at the end of April. I've also preordered Puyo Puyo Tetris, which is set for a May release, since it'll be nice to actually play that amazing game in English!

Super Mario Odyssey did seem a little odd, but I've thought that about basically every Mario game since Super Mario 64. They all seem so weird and different until you start playing. I'm not concerned about its quality whatsoever. Unlike Sonic, Mario doesn't really have any blemishes on his "mainline" record, at least not for me. Don't get me wrong, I love Sonic and definitely plan to pick up Sonic Mania, just not sure which platform at this point :D

I definitely think they should've come out of the gate with another one of their existing franchises, maybe not even a super big one, but something like Kid Icarus or Pilotwings.

"Unlike Sonic, Mario doesn't really have any blemishes on his "mainline" record"
cough Sunshine cough

Yeah, they should have had more franchise titles, especially since gamers raged so much about their new Metroid game on 3DS not being a Metroid game. Or heck, if you're gonna make a Kinect-like game, why not Punch-Out?

I feel like an idiot. I saw that trailer for FE Warriors and it never occurd okured -how the heck do I spell that- to me that it was a warriors game. I mean I do want that to be a thing, but I was so hype for a FE game that might actually look good at launch. We haven't had good looking FE since the GBA.

Still pretty exited for the Zelda, Bomberman, and Mario though. The Breath of The Wild looks like the Zelda game I've oft dreamt of playing as a wee lad, alas it was never made until now (hopefully :). I have fond memory's of Playing Bomberman and Super Mario on the SNES with my older brother so that makes me want to play the new Bomberman. With the recent Mario games there is no way Odyssey isn't going to be awesome.

Yup there is no way this is not going to be a commercial success. especially with that 1 2 Switch ad. Every Italian around for miles is going to want to buy it.

@moho_00 - A new shining Force game would be awesome. Shinning Force: Legacy of Great Intention was what got me started on reading. I didn't know even know what it was called until I almost beat it. Intention is such a big word.

I pre-ordered a Switch today from Wal-Mart. I was worried since all the other retailers were sold out of pre-orders for the Switch but I saw on Facebook that they were still taking pre-orders and guaranteeing that pre-orders will be available on launch day. We'll see!

It's been in flux a bit, but the last list sits at:

  • 1-2-Switch
  • Fast RMX
  • Just Dance 2017
  • Human Resource Machine
  • I Am Setsuna
  • The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
  • Little Inferno
  • Shovel Knight
  • Skylanders: Imaginators
  • Snipperclips
  • Super Bomberman R
  • World of Goo

Haven't played it yet (planning on it this year though) but I'd put it closer to a melee oriented mega man game.

I agree, a melee-oriented Mega Man game sounds about right It's a solid game.

As for the Switch, I'm ready!! I think the last time I was this excited for a console launch was for the Dreamcast, which I was extremely excited for. My excitement isn't anywhere near that level (i.e. borderline obsession), but it's still pretty high. Here's what I plan on getting on launch day:

  • The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (This one is a no-brainer)
  • Super Bomberman R (It's a little expensive, but GCU knocked it down to $40 and this should have a ton of replay value)
  • Just Dance 2017 (Wait, what? This one serves two purposes: 1) Getting my wife to play; 2) Getting me some cardio.)
  • Fast RMX (Obviously Nintendo has no interest in bringing back F-Zero, so I'll just go with this one. It looks awesome.)

I'm on the fence with Snipperclips, but I might cave due to launch weekend excitement. It looks like a great game, but I don't want to be forced to play co-op (kinda like Overcooked does to you).

Of course, it was revealed that Turok 2: Remastered would be arriving in the middle of March on Steam, so I'm going to be conflicted at that time. At least I'm off that week

Right now, Zelda is definitely the only title that has my interest. I skipped the Wii U but might have to bite on the Switch at some point.

It'll probably be a while....let some other titles get released that would help me with justifying the purchase.

As far as Turok - I need to buy both of those off of Steam and play them again. I believe I still have the first Turok stored somewhere for the N64.

Shovel Knight is a must play. They will have a total of three versions of Shovel Knight ready for the Switch. Shovel Knight, Plague of Shadows and Specter of Torment. (If you already own Shovel Knight on other systems Specter of Torment will show up free as DLC in April in an update). Plague of Shadows shows up once you beat Shovel Knight.

Shovel Knight is on sale (33% off) on systems other than the Switch until March 2nd! Go get it!

As far as the Switch, I'm pumped! I'm ready for Friday to get here! I just hope Amazon comes early on Friday. If not I'll be staring at the Switch for several hours until the games arrive.

I'm still only getting Zelda and Bomberman. I really want I Am Setsuna but I'll probably get it on Steam for cheaper than it is on Nintendo right now. I really wish they would release a physical copy of it, right now physical is available in Japan only.
