Anyone have any recommendations for some good gaming podcasts? I listen to one called Dense Pixels on a regular basis. Three guys talk about upcoming games, games they are currently playing and they go over gaming industry news each week. They are pretty hilarious too. I used to listen to one called Indie Mages that talked about an indie game each week but they haven't had a new one in several months. I'd love to add more to my list of podcasts to make my car rides to and from work a little more enjoyable. |

For me, my most-listened to gaming podcasts are the following: Orange Lounge Radio - I've been listening to this show on and off since 2004, but they've actually been going even longer than that. As such, this is a total personal favorite pick as I've grown to really "know" the crew and enjoy their opinions on games. For reference, they originally began as a DDR/Bemani/Konami show but eventually expanded into general gaming topics. Giant Bombcast - From the guys who run GiantBomb.com. If you dig their personalities/content then it's a great fit - but otherwise they're doing the similar "talk about what we're playing, the news, and going on weird tangents" thing that a lot of 'casts employ. Giant Beastcast - A second podcast from GiantBomb.com with a different crew (due to these guys being on the east coast). The vibe is a bit different as well. Game Buoy - Not as much of a typical roundtable weekly podcast. They usually focus on a specific topic (which is often, but not always, Nintendo-oriented). For example, a history of the Animal Crossing series. Unconsoleable - This podcast is focused primarily on mobile games. I like this one as I don't keep up with mobile very much at all so the hosts are always introducing me to cool new games.

Idle Thumbs (www.idlethumbs.net/idlethumbs) is a good podcast that has been around for nearly 10 years. Run by veterans in the gaming business (Chris Remo, Jake Rodkin , Sean Vandaman, Nick Breckon). Noteworthy is also Crate and Crowbar which was a continuation of a PC Gamer podcast that stopped a few years ago. PC Gamer has now their own podcast again which is also ok, not great. Eurogamer has a good podcast. Most of them are 50-70 minutes long which is pretty perfect as I need to travel about 1 hour 6x a week. Giant bombcasts are a bit too long I think but the end of year shows are always great.

I don't listen to many gaming podcasts, but I'll heartily second the recommendation for Podquisition. You have to be okay with absolutely NSFW language and topics, and a lot of wandering off topic, but those three work very well together and I usually end up laughing hard enough to get tears in my eyes at least once per podcast. I also watch the Co-Optional Podcast (TotalBiscuit, Jesse Cox, Dodger, + guest), which you can also download and listen to, although it's more because it's something to have on in the background while I'm working. I like Cox, but TB's attitude can be grating at times. He's very good if you like more technical overviews of games, and the Co-Opt. trio is pretty funny. |

You have to check out Retronauts. NPR for gamers, but not at all boring. The most informative gaming podcast. There's also Cane and Rinse, which actually sounds like NPR. It's a weekly book club but for games; you'll have a better time if you've actually played the game of the week, so don't listen to each and every episode. Vidjagame Apocalypse is just great -- better than Giant Bombcast -- and also really full of insight. You basically have a Top 5 every week around a certain topic - usually relevant to what's going on at the time, like the latest episode is about the Top 5 Non-Mario/Zelda Nintendo launch games. Chic Pixel Plus is fun if you like niche Japanese games (i.e. JRPGs, visual novels, otome) and anime/manga. I also recommend her blog - https://www.chic-pixel.com |

I'll second the Co-Optional Podcast. TB, Dodger and Jessie have a great back and forth banter relationship. If you like crass humour, and gaming topics, check out DL Gaming Podcast (on itunes). Been around for a few years and built up quite a following. |

I'm a big fan of Stone Age Gamer. They're pretty funny, but more importantly, they're two dudes about my age, with families, and next to no time to actually play games. Makes me feel like I'm not the only one. |
