Just curious if anyone else enjoys board/card games as well?
Less poker/backgammon and more Arkham Horror/Settlers of Catan, just to clarify :P

We used to have a regular game night, but that died out cause everyone moved or had kids.

Used to be pretty big into Magic the Gathering, Mechwarrior (somewhat lesser known ccg, but fun!), Warhammer 40k, etc... years ago, but everyone I knew who played scattered to the four winds and that pretty much put an end to that.

Hero Quest was a big one for me and my friends back in the day. Pretty fun game.

I had a Magic the Gathering period myself. And Warhammer 40k for that matter (though I more painted than played lol).

@Drymonema I was more of a painter/collector as well with 40k, lol

@jwcooley I forgot about Hero Quest! My younger cousin and I played the ever-living hell out of that game ages ago. We made our own expansions and new enemies/loot when we ran out of official content... Was good times.

I better still have that box stored somewhere or I will be upset, lol

I wish they would bring it back and modernize it. There was a lot of gaps in the rules you had to sort of fill in, but it was still a blast.

Haha @dhobo yep that was more fun/less complicated than actually playing.

I've never played Hero Quest, but now I'm quite intrigued!

I found my box. Despite moving a couple times over the years, it's still in surprisingly good shape and I have all the bits and pieces (to the best of my knowledge, at least)

Too bad all the character sheets are used up and the booklet stuff is so scribbled over from over-use and custom content. While it makes for great memories, it looks pretty rough lol

I had Hero Quest when I was a kid. I got it because a friend had it and it looked cool but didn't really realize what it was. I got it for Christmas but no one played it with me. Sad story I know.

I left it at my parents house after I moved out which was a bad idea, cuz mom got rid of it. :( Along with the SNES and all my old NES and SNES games. :(

I should have known better, she was known to throw away some valuable things, like a bunch of my brother's old 70s baseball cards.

I've slowly been building my board / card game collection up, but I'm not sure why since I don't play them too terribly often :P Some of my favorites right now are King of Tokyo, Machi Koro, and One Night Ultimate Werewolf. I used to play Magic quite a bit, but recently sold most of my extra cards (I kept all my decks).

For those that used to enjoy Hero Quest, I highly recommend checking out Descent: Journeys in the Dark. It's kinda like a really beefed up version of Hero Quest in that you kill things, loot treasure, solve quests, etc. It's kinda like playing Diablo...as a board game. The only problem is it can take a while to play and there are a lot of rules (although the Second Edition streamlined things a bit). But it's a good time indeed!

That game intrigues he heck out of me.

That price tag frightens the heck of me.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention that I also played a little 40k back in the day. And I also spent more time painting than playing :P What armies did you guys use? I have a Necron army that hasn't been used in 5+ years. Always enjoyed their lore :D

My first 40k stuff was just a bag of zombies, so I really got drawn into mainly cause I could assemble and paint gruesome zombies.
After that I went a few different directions, Chaos and the rat people... forgot what they're called (Skaven, maybe?).

Sounds more like OG Warhammer rather than 40k if you had zombies and skaven. Still a great game though :)

As for my collection, I had a boring Black Templar army to start, bought more space marines from a friend that ended up being Blood Ravens, had a bunch of Dark Eldar as well.

So many edits. My brain has the dumb and I couldn't remember space marine chapter names to save my life.

Haha oh yeah that's right, I forgot I had 40k rulebooks but wanted zombies and skaven to work with it. But I had the Chaos space marines.
