Before I say ANYTHING, I want to point out I love this site and probably won't leave it for a while. HOWEVER I'm offline a lot of the time due to family..."issues." Basically, I lose internet around 10 at night and it comes back on the next morning. So a lot of my game time is offline, and I'd like to keep track of game progress as well as time spent on games then. So the question is basically, while I don't have the newest Office Excel (I have friggin 2003) are there any "veterans" of Excel that could share their experience with creating a spreadsheet for this? Doesn't have to be for playthrough tracking, but I know a lot of collectors use spreadsheets for their collections and I may do this for non-gaming collections. Note: I do know there is a template that looks cool for what I'm looking for, but due to my old as dirt version, I can't properly use it -.- |

I'm not sure I understand what exactly you're asking for here, TBH What's your intent with the spreadsheet? Tracking unplayed/in progress/finished status? tracking spent vs collector value? tracking completeness of various console collections? If you could be more specific as to what your end goal is with the spreadsheet I'm sure someone here will be able to help you better! |

It may be a bit weird tbh. The main question is just asking help with Excel. I haven't used it much and was curious if anyone had tips they've learned. XD To be specific, I'm just tracking progress. Kinda like a custom offline version of this site's playthroughs section. Basically I'm just creating multiple sheets for each game and typing my progress. (Collectibles, levels, stats for each level, etc) Again, I'm mostly asking for general Excel tips from a collectors experience. I guess another thing is if people want, I wouldn't mind hearing how others used spreadsheets. xD And I'm not good at being clear with anything :P (Now that I think about it, I'm not sure this is game related...I is dumb)

I'm a total spreadsheet geek - most of my job is creating dashboard reports in Excel for various key performance indicators. I'd be happy to work on something to suit your needs if you want to get in touch :) I think I've seen the spreadsheet that you were referring to before and, to be honest, this is something I'd thought about and have done a little research in to (most specifically the use of EAN codes to interrogate an online database and pull product information through) but I've not tried it yet Also, if you have a Microsoft account (like from Hotmail) you should be able to access Excel Online which is a web based version of the most recent release. It doesn't allow for VBA coding and I'm not sure what else is missing but worth a try if you need a newer version.

If you have access to a mobile device during these times, you could also use Completionator on your phone. Not all functionality / data is available due to the screen size, but you should be able to do the basics like check your collection, add something to your collection, enter playthrough time, enter completions, etc. |
