I made sure my steam profile was on public. When i use the preview link in the profile when trying to link it it tells me the specified profile could not be found, but when i use the url in chrome it works just fine

Are you still having any issues? It looks like you have it configured correctly, so I'm not sure what would be preventing it from working.
