Every now and then I receive inquiries about joining the curation team, so I wanted to put together a thread that hopefully explains how things work at a high-level. Additionally, for those that are interested in joining the team, I've created a very simple "request" form that you can fill out to express your interest.

The data on Completionator is manually curated, which means we don't import from an API like Giant Bomb or IGDB. This allows us to create a data model that fits our features and we can adapt as the site evolves over time much more easily. The downside is it takes A LOT of work to keep up with the new game requests and to fill out existing entries with data such as release dates, genres, etc. While some games are fairly straight-forward, others can be messy and we really strive for accuracy while sticking within the bounds of our data model.

This ultimately requires a significant amount of time to maintain, but curators are able to work freely and help out whenever and wherever they can. Completionator does not generate any revenue (nor does it intend to) and thus joining the curation team is on a volunteer-basis.
