Hey Guys,

I was wondering, what was your guys worst game you beat in 2022 and why?

My worst Game was very recent:

Kona (https://www.completionator.com/Game/Details/23157)

All the survival bits like cold, scavenging, stamina and the weight based inventory system feel so bad. It is a detective/mystery game at its core, so why put all that crap in there. :(

Super Mario Bros 2: The Lost Levels (https://www.completionator.com/Game/Details/2479)
One of the worst experiences i've ever had playing a video game. I just didn't find it to be fun and was full of unfair enemy and invisible block placement. Some of the jumps were also stupidly difficult to pull off. If it weren't for All-Stars' save feature I don't think I ever would've beaten this game.

Not the worst in terms of overall quality, but the one I played with the worst fun / time ratio was probably Tales of Rebirth. The battle system is genuinely fantastic and arguably as good as Tales combat has ever been, and the visuals are lovely. But the story is just an absolute trash fire, and honestly the single worst story that I've ever seen in a big budget JRPG, managing to be simultaneously juvenile, unintentionally funny, and honestly borderline insulting at points. It's also weirdly wordy despite having absolutely nothing of value to say, making it harder and harder to focus on the things the game does well as it goes on, and making the awfulness stand out so much more than it would in a game where the story is relegated to the background.

I usually don't expect that much from the Tales series, and see them as a kind of JRPG comfort food where you go in knowing that you won't be wowed but probably won't be disappointed either. But Rebirth failed to even meet those modest expectations, and for me it's the worst game in the series that I've finished. Of course it's not the worst JRPG I've played - like I say, I really enjoyed the combat, and I'll admit to a degree of fascination and amusement at seeing just how much the story crashed and burned after a vaguely promising opening. But yeah, there are few if any games that I've put 55 hours into only to receive so little from in return. And while I've owned a copy since about 2006 and am happy to have struck it from my backlog at last, those 55 hours are by far the time I most regret spending on any game last year.

Easily has to be Flicky

Horrible controls, frustrating level design, not that great of a premises to begin with.

One Last Memory AND One Last Memory: Reimagined. Played both on the Playstation, at a brief glance they seemed perfect for me. But they are glitchy, broken, and with abhorrent design decisions.

Not worst in terms of quality, but in terms of personal enjoyment: Kirby's Pinball Land, great game if you like pinball

I fucking hate pinball

Assassin's Creed: Revelations

Never mind that it was such a slog to get through after playing through the far better Assassin's Creed II and Assassin's Creed Brotherhood games, it was also insanely buggy throughout, culminating in a hard crash that corrupted my save game when I was at the literal end of the game. Replaying the game really left a sour taste in my mouth after an already bitter experience.

I had to come back in after the fact. I was going through and updating my games of 2022 stack and realized I had blackholed the Popeye (2021) game that I completed last year. Absolutely abysmal, not only my worst of 2022 but one of the worst I've played in a very long time.

Great question!! For me it had to be Killer Instinct Gold for N64. I'm sure it's a good game for fans of the arcade fighter genre but more me it was just frustrating. The combos are not intuitive which made it very difficult for me. I managed to get through it mostly by cheesing the enemy but it was a rough go! I appreciate it for what it was at the time, but it's not a game I enjoyed.

I think the worst game I played in 2022 was "Hellbound", a crappy 90s-inspired FPS released in modern-day without the polish, charm or fun weapons. It was pretty generic.

@Warriescarface I was thinking of playing RR (maybe New Dawn as well if I play 5) this year! Wish me luck.

Pokemon Colosseum for sure. A Pokemon game made entirely by people who have never worked on Pokemon. Wouldn't be so much of an issue if it weren't trying to be so "similar" to the main series, Has so many questionable and annoying design decisions. Only reason I played through it is because I wanted to setup a Shadow Scizor shiny hunt. At least the music and character designs are solid lol

Metal Gear Acid (The first one)
The gameplay was very gimmicky, slow and not very engaging. The mere act of moving around felt like a chore, and the game dragged on for far too long.
The story was outlandish at best, and I hated how Snake acted. I know it's a spin off, but they could have respected the source material at least somewhat.
It also lacked polish. Thank God the second game overhauled some things and made the gameplay loop faster and more bearable.
So yeah, easily the worst game I completed last year, and the worst Metal Gear overall in my opinion

Gotham Knights, the gameplay is starkingly repetitive, I had to grind to beat 50 crimes on the street for every characters to unlock their signature skill. Story is mediocre, the emptiness of the world makes riding vehicle from mission to mission feels like a chore.

I didn't care for the original Trials of Mana game. I played through the re-make and had a blast with it, though.

Probably either Bubsy 1 or FNaF: Sister Location. A game with annoying, cheap, one hit deaths and an extremely boring game with a massive difficulty spike with Night 4.

I would say Anthem. Not because the game itself was completely aweful but because of the terrible servers that kept disconnecting me over and over again. It was frustraiting but i stuck with it and platinum it

Pocketbike Racer for the Xbox 360. Not the worst game I've ever played, but probably the worst I finished in 2022.

Haven't beat it YET, but I HOPE I will beat it by the end of the year... Just Cause 2.
Don't get me wrong, the game on its own is great fun, but when you have to get LITERALLY EVERYTHING in this MASSIVE open world.... you end up just doing the same menial tasks in a boring environment over and over again. It becomes brainless and sucks all the fun right out of the game.

EDIT: Just noticed I already commented and this is for 2022 XD
I thought it's for 2023 for some reason

I barely finished anything last year, and everything I did could be debatably good or bad.

That being said, the game I finished that I gave the worst rating was Mega Man X3. I enjoy the game, but it is disappointing in some aspects compared to the first two.

For me it was Mafia III. Just did not even come close to tracking as well as Mafia I and even Mafia II did. I finished it because I wanted to complete the trilogy, but if it wasn't tied into those games there is no way I would have finished it. What's the word... it felt... soulless. Very reminiscent of what we get from, say, Ubisoft open world titles.
