Here is a weird one for you and certainly the first time I ever seen this happen in a database source for many years. I took a look at my Wishlist and noticed the entries for Alien: Isolation looked odd. I had what looked like duplicate entries for both Xbox One and Xbox Series X. So I deleted them. This lead to both them, as well as PS4 and PS5 entries being removed. I then put PS4 and PS5 back in. I refreshed the page and then found my Xbox entries now changed to match the PlayStation entries. So I deleted all PlayStation and Xbox entries, then re-entered them into the wishlist. I refreshed the page again and found all three distinct PC entries (Epic, GOG and Steam) and Switch entries gone. They have been replaced with duplicate entries of the Xbox and Playstation entries I just added. This recursive error is maddening and thinking I should just stick to my old spreadsheet system for specific data intensive tasks like this. It may be more work, but at least I know my data won't be changed in it unless I change it myself.

Maybe I'm not following your steps correctly, but I was unable to recreate this issue. I added four wish list entries for Alien: Isolation:

  • PS4
  • PS5
  • Xbox One
  • Xbox Series X|S

I then deleted the Xbox One version and refreshed the page...and I still had the other three entries. I deleted the others one at a time and everything seemed fine. I added one back in and nothing unusual showed up.

LOL That works for me. This is why recursive errors are so hard to fix. Let me break it up into quantifiable segments. I probably got some things out of order. I originally started with eight distinct platform entries on the Wishlist database page for Alien: Isolation on Nintendo Switch, PC Epic Games, PC GOG, PC Steam, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X.
1 ] Found duplicate Xbox One and Xbox Series X platform entries for Alien: Isolation on Wishlist database page. They were not there before this error started.
2 ] Deleted duplicate entries and refreshed the Wishlist database page.
3 ] Found previously entered PS4 and PS5 platform entries for Alien: Isolation deleted from Wishlist database page.
4 ] Entered PS4 and PS5 platform entries back into Wishlist and refreshed the database page.
5 ] Found the previously entered Xbox One and Xbox Series X platform entries for Alien: Isolation had been changed to PS4 and PS5 platform.
6 ] Deleted all PS4 and PS5 platform entries for Alien: Isolation from Wishlist and refreshed the database page.
7 ] Added PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X platform entries for Alien: Isolation back into Wishlist and refreshed the database page.
8 ] Found previously entered Nintendo Switch, PC Epic Games, PC GOG and PC Steam platform versions of Alien: Isolation replaced with duplicate PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X platform entries of the same title. At this point, I left everything alone and posted the issue to the forum.

Hmm...I'm not sure how previously entered items could return since the site doesn't retain history or anything. Once you delete an item, it's gone forever. Now, there could be a problem with the actual delete action, but as far as items returning...that should not be possible.

This is the conclusion I eventually came to myself, but wanted a second perspective on this. Somehow the delete action is not completing itself and thus causing the recursive error to manifest. Perhaps if I just delete everything and leave the site alone for a day, then go back in and create a new wishlist it will then go away. Will let you know here if that works or not.

What browser do you use? If you haven't done so already, you might want to try a different one to see if the delete action works. I generally use Firefox, but the site should work in all modern browsers.
