I grew up with many gamers but although i was born in the early 2000's (the generation which grew up the most with pokemon franchise) i feel like it's not as liked as i thought at least for the games 'cause of course many people of my age and maybe the 30+ years old grew up with the anime, the cards or even the toys. But yeah the games weren't that much loved between the fanatic defenders and the ones who trashtalk them but i feel like the old ones deserve more respect. But yeah in this server not many people played that much pokémon games, i even checked moho_OO's list, he's only got 9 games and completed 4 of them. Maybe members of this website are gen X

I always have a good time with the games when I play and think it's a really fun formula, but because they're all quite similar I tend to drift in and out of the series, taking long breaks to keep it feeling fresh. I played Red, Yellow, and Gold all quite close together and then took a huge break from the series until Sun / Moon released, when I caught up on some of what I had missed. On another break from the series now, but sure I'll come back in another four or five years to catch up. |

Games — neutral, as I haven't played much of this series. |

Been a longtime fan of the series, growing up with it. I've played at least one entry from all gens up through Sun/Moon, but I'm really put off by the Switch games. I do think there's a sweet spot in Gen. III that really feels like the core Pokemon experience that everything else falls short of. Emerald is probably the best game in the franchise, nostalgia aside. I cannot fathom why they did not add the Battle Frontier to ORAS. I'm also on a slow replay of the series for the versions I didn't get to play. On Blue right now, but I'm torn between doing the Retroachievements (keeping your mons under a certain level per gym battle which causes me to think a lot harder about the game and plan accordingly) or just playing it naturally. I'm also making a point to pick Pokemon I would not normally go for. Looking at a endgame team of Blastoise, Nidoking, Jynx, Jolteon, Dodrio, and Hitmonlee. I also grew up watching the anime, mostly Indigo League/Orange Isles, but I did watch several more years on and off. I've been on a very slow watch of the series in my adult years and the show is pretty bad lol. I still love it for nostalgia reasons, and there's a few hidden gems, but man did they water it down for kids. I hate that Ash almost exclusively uses baby Pokemon until much later in the series, but is it even worth the wait? I think not, but that won't stop me from watching something that was so important to me as a kid. Team Rocket is the only thing keeps me going. You have a Millennial/Gen-Z cusp fan of the series here, don't worry haha. |

I was around to remember the start of the franchise, and got into the anime and trading cards pretty early in, but wasn't able to get one of the games until Yellow. I stuck with the series on and off until 4th Gen, that was my last real experience with it until lately, I've been trying to get back in. |

I'm definitely one of the earlier players who liked it when it was pretty simple with less Pokemon lol! I got Blue when it came out, played Yellow and Silver as well. Loved all 3 of those and played them a lot!! A lot of the newer gen ones amped up on other RPG elements that I wasn't as into like held items and stat maxing. The other early spin-offs were fun, like Pokemon Snap and my friends and I collected the cards as well! I do want to give Sword a shot or another one of the new ones. I heard that one is a bit like the older ones? |

I remember liking it as a kid, but I had only ever seen the anime and a few movies at the time. By the time I finally played an (actual) game of the series, I just saw it as overrated. To this day, I still don't really see the appeal. I'm one of those people that played Palworld and then "got it" despite it not being related to Pokémon at all. Not going to start that topic, but you can guess my feelings on the series now considering certain legal events. |
