Even if some people may be open minded when it comes to video games, it's still biologically impossible to like everything because of both time and mental limits.

So we have favorite franchises mine are fnaf, mario, pokémon and soulsborne.

Even though i'm trying to become more open minded, there're still a few franchises that i'm not willing to give 'em a try.

here's a list : sword art online games, my hero academia games, animal crossing, strategy games, some educative games (pretty logical though) sports games like fifa, nba, madden nfl, just cause, valorant, apex legends, grand theft auto, halo (i played once but disliked it), games based on tv shows and those are the names i could remember from memory.

One franchise I have never been able to get into despite repeatedly trying games from it is Borderlands. I don't know why but something about it leaves me completely fatigued each time I play, but it's not even a feeling of disdain, more like disinterest.

I tend to avoid games where you play as an agent of real world governments or militaries in a contemporary setting. Mainly military FPS, but has also put me off some other famous series like Splinter Cell over the years. Partly my real world politics getting in the way of my enjoyment I think, but a lot of that sort of stuff always came off as very jingoistic and personally unappealing to me.

I do enjoy a good shooter, but tend to gravitate more towards those set in worlds far removed from our own, or those that mix real world elements with entirely fantastical ones like Wolfenstein.

Pokémon by a long shot. I hate feeling that way considering its become less of me "avoiding it because I find it overly popular" and more "I'm starting to see it as a cult and not a fanbase." I don't know why, but the games never seem interesting, rarely do anything different, the company is really shitty towards others (coughPocketPaircough) and yet they have a messiah-like reputation among 98% of gamers. I just don't see it.

No, I'm not happy or proud of feeling that way. But that's something for me to work on.

It's a shame that the pokémon franchise never attempted to improve ! Personally i consider legends of arceus as being one of the most innovative opus although not entirely exploited to its highest potential !

The universe is pretty well developped at least in terms of world building, the concept in itself is innovative but unlike Mario, Zelda or Star Fox, the formula barely changes at least in obvious and explicit details.
It hurts me as someone who likes pokémon and finished three games and played at least ten of them.
