NOTE: The whole point of the Development Updates forum is to bring potential site enhancements to the community to collect feedback. I can't guarantee every feature will be implemented or everyone's request will make it in, but I'll strive to include as much feedback as possible. If a feature makes it beyond the "idea" phase and I start working on it, I'll provide updates here, as necessary. I thought it would be neat to see some global stats across all users. Here are a few examples:
As you can see, we could have stats that are by game or by user. We could also have things that aren't specific to a game or user, like "# of games added in the last 30 days". This page would be purely for fun, it really has no functionality other than pretty graphs to look at. On the flip-side, it should be pretty easy / quick (and fun!) to build. So does this page sound at all interesting to you guys? If so, what metrics / stats would you be interested in seeing? If we did a "Top 10" approach, would you want to see more? |

I think this would be interesting. It'll get better as time goes on and more members records completion times. I'm assuming longest/shortest would also be broken down by the various ways to complete a game. I think something that would be cool is to prompt users to add completion times to games that they have either 'finished' or 'completed'. They can choose to opt out, but that way they would see something and say 'oh, I didn't add a completion time, let me do that real fast'. Maybe adding something that says 'Number of games finished/completionated without completion times'

Yeah, I think we could either have 4 widgets each for longest and shortest, one for each completion type. Or we could have a filter that let's you pick which ones to see and by default it would include all types (except maybe speed runs?) I'm leaning towards the filter since it will help reduce clutter and I can't see people using it TOO often, so it won't be annoying to filter every time. I love the idea of informing users of games missing completion times. The easiest thing to do is add a filter to the Collection Search page so you could find games with or without completion times. I'm hesitant to prompt the user directly because sometimes you won't have a completion time and it would get annoying. I could allow users to dismiss the alert on a per game basis, but that requires more time / effort. I'm not opposed to doing that, just being transparent on what it takes to build and want to make sure it's the preferred direction before devoting any time to it. |

I've been thinking about this feature and I'm hoping to tackle it in the next couple of weeks, so if there's anymore feedback / requests for it, let me know! |
