NOTE: The whole point of the Development Updates forum is to bring potential site enhancements to the community to collect feedback. I can't guarantee every feature will be implemented or everyone's request will make it in, but I'll strive to include as much feedback as possible. If a feature makes it beyond the "idea" phase and I start working on it, I'll provide updates here, as necessary.

This thread is dedicated to some smaller features (some of which have been requested by you guys!) that I could work on in between larger features. If you're interested in any of these, post a reply and let's get the discussion started!

Steam Achievements
I should be able to pull in this data with the Steam API and set the two achievement values on your game record in Completionator. I think this would be a separate web service call (but not 100% sure yet), so it would likely slow down the import. To combat this, I could make this an optional step or a completely separate action you could take (or both).

Progress Status Quick Toggle
I don't know about you guys, but I'm certainly loving the now playing and backlog buttons on the Collection Search page! The problem now is that I want to do the same thing with progress status, especially when I first load in new games.

Find Games Based on Completion Times
This is an interesting idea that would help you find games in your collection that take a certain amount of time to complete, according to the completions that have been entered into Completionator. I'm thinking you could enter a range (low / high) and look at all completion types or just certain ones. I would've probably already built this feature, but the thing holding me back is we just don't have enough data! Most of the games don't have ANY completion times, so I've been holding off until we grow the community a bit. Despite that, I figured I'd gauge interest here in case it's something you guys feel would be useful / helpful at this time.

Filters Update URL
Right now, if you apply filters to a search page, the URL doesn't update. This is rather annoying when I want to share a search with a friend. I know I've tried to show other people all of my games on a certain console, but that's not possible. (NOTE: This isn't true anymore, I added platform support to the URL, but nothing else works yet :P) I'm thinking it would work just like the search on Steam, so as you apply filters, your URL updates and you could just copy and paste it out of there. I'm leaning towards having it work with the browser back button, also like Steam does.

Game Difficulty
One thing I'm always interested in is how difficult a game is. Sometimes I'm in the mood for an easy RPG or a hard platformer and I have no way of finding one without googling it. I've seen other sites try and track this data (GameFAQs comes to mind), so I'm assuming there are others out there that are interested in it. The main issue with this one is that difficulty is VERY subjective. It seems like with enough aggregated data though, it would become somewhat reliable.

View Recently Added Games
The Completionator landing page shows up to 30 of the most recently added games. Is there any interest in being able to page through these games? The easiest solution would be to add an "Added On" column to the Game Search page since the infrastructure is already in place. I thought this might be helpful for when a user requests a large number of games to be added to the site.

User Comments
Other sites like Steam and Backloggery let you post comments on a user's profile page. I never utilize these features, but I know others do and it would be fairly simplistic to add, so I thought I'd throw it out there and see if there's any interest. I could provide some basic controls for you to prevent user's from adding comments, limiting it to just your friends, etc (if those types of controls are needed).

I think the Steam achievement thing would be cool but honestly, having the Steam import function is good enough for me. I could see it being a pretty interesting perk, especially if it works well.

The quick buttons are definitely a favorite feature of mine on here. It does make it easy to quickly label something. As far as the progress bar, I'd actually like to see that be added to the overview page on the section of 'now playing'. I'd love to toggle that I'm at 56 percent there and maybe even have a button that allows you to edit or add a completion. I'm finding that I use the Overview more and more and try to only use the 'my collection' in the event I need to add more games to it or if I am saying I'm playing something.

I like the Filter URL thing. I never use it but I could see it being very useful, especially when you want to share a particular list, i.e. the gaming Olympics.

As far as viewing recently added games, I think it would be interesting to see more of a history but I'm also more into the idea of voting up a particular entry. Meaning, lets say you add game 'x'. As long as I'm your friend or if your profile is public, anybody can thumbs/vote it up as a way of saying I like the fact that you either got that game, completed it, finished it, etc..

User comments is a very cool idea and almost plays into more of the social aspect that other sites have. I like the idea as long as it somewhat went hand in hand with the voting up actions displayed in the activity feed section.

If I didn't mention something, it's because my interest in it isn't really there, but that doesn't mean they aren't good ideas to implement.

Steam Achievements: I don't link my game account info, so the auto-achievement status downloading thing is kind of moot for me.
Progress Status: If it adds convenience/ease of use then I'm all for it.
Completion Time Sort/Filter: I would use this, but there definitely is nowhere near enough data to make it worthwhile yet.
URL Updates: Yes, please. I had the same problem of being unable to share a link with a buddy already. Granted, they could just update the filters themselves, so it wasn't that big of a deal.
Game Difficulty: This I would use and update. Absolutely. If it showed up like the user ratings (maybe right under it?), then I could gauge their skill level/preferences all at once to see how my tastes and skill level compare when browsing someone's collection.
Recently Added: Don't really see myself using this, honestly. If I see the front page is updated with new stuff, then I check to see if any/all of the games I've requested are added by trying to add them.
User Comments: I'm not overly social normally and will likely not get a ton of use out of it, but this is a good feature to have for trying to make this site more of a community than a collection of... well, collections, ha. Might not see a lot of use until more users hop on board, however.

I went ahead and did the URL update thing today. It took a bit longer than I had anticipated, which is the main reason why this week's release is rather small. It's not quite finished either since paging and sorting are not getting picked up. I felt those were a bit lower priority and it will require me to modify the plugin I'm using, so I put an item on my list for the future and held off for now. Let me know if you guys feel sorting and paging are important and I can move it up my priority list accordingly.

All that being said, the feature should work pretty well and seems like it will be very handy :) It should also work with your browser back button since it just adds a history item. As always, let me know if you see any bugs / weirdness with it.

Steam Achievements: I use other sites to track and view this info; I think (for now) you should focus on the actual features that make this site so great and add these things later on. I've seen multiple implementations of achievements done poorly. Mostly when it comes down to actual tracking on a regular bases. Best site for this is imo astats.nl (Steam) or metagamerscore (http://www.metagamerscore.com/).

Progress status : Quick edit is enough for me, but if you could enhance the already existing Progress status with some neat stuff i probably like it a lot :D

Completion Time Game Finder : Neat idea but you need data to have it work. Better put it on a long list. This should work great otherwise people are going to make fun of it \ not use it because it suggests the wrong games based upon too little data.

URL Updates : YES and it works great! when entering a detail of a game, and you press BACK your filter is restored. That is what I like most :-)

Game difficulty : Won't use this as it is very subjective. On top of that, games have difficulty modes themselves. Would not use it.

Recently added games : make is a separate list based upon the already in place structures. Please don't add another column to that page.. ;-)

user comments : Not interested really as I won't be using it.
