NOTE: The whole point of the Development Updates forum is to bring potential site enhancements to the community to collect feedback. I can't guarantee every feature will be implemented or everyone's request will make it in, but I'll strive to include as much feedback as possible. If a feature makes it beyond the "idea" phase and I start working on it, I'll provide updates here, as necessary.

I know there's a lot of PC / digital collectors here, but since I've been trying to pick up a variety of Amiibos, I figured it was time to see if there's any interest in tracking these....toys / figures / whatever they are.

The easiest thing to do would be to add them as a "game", which would get them to show up in your Collection, Wish List, etc. I'm not sure if that makes the most sense or not, but it would definitely be the easiest. I could add a flag or something so I would know if a "game" is really a "toy / figure" and could prevent these particular items from having completion times, playthroughs, etc. I could also add a filter to the Collection Search page so you could easily find / filter them.

Of course there's the option of having a completely new entity for these suckers, but that would require a new page or a large rewrite of existing pages to support them.

In a lot of ways, they could be considered DLC, so perhaps they get treated the same way when I get around to tackling that functionality?

I could definitely see some of them being treated as a sort of physical DLC for collecting purposes since they unlock content don't they? Never really got into the concept myself, as I'm too old and curmudgeonly for them to appeal to me, haha.

Main question to ask is : Can you Completionate it? ;-)
I kinda see it as the 1000 skins and flags you can buy for Call of Duty. Some collect them. But if you add them, you should also include every DLC for every game I guess. All or nothing ;-)

All I know is I wouldn't be looking forward to the mess that will be trying to implement tracking DLC (of any kind.) At least, if you're going to be using a similar approach to what you're doing now for the main game entries. Train Simulator 2015 alone has over 200 DLC...

I noticed recently, when entering two game titles and saw Disney Infinity figures pop up. This would be a handy option to have here, for tracking completion of character specific missions in the games. I have nearly all of the main pieces myself, including one Light FX and four Infinite/Crystal character variations. How do you plan on handling the situation of the Infinity Playset pieces themselves?

I think the playsets will need to be entered as compilations, similar to how I've entered the Amiibo multi-packs:

I've entered most of the Skylanders and Amiibo figures, but haven't made much progress on Disney Infinity yet. It's on my list though

Yes, they will. That way we get the same break-out results as with game compilations. Very good idea. Would you like me to wait a while on adding my Infinity collection? What link source you want me to reference for missing pieces and sets, once I begin adding them?

I used this site to verify I picked up all Skylanders when I added those in: http://www.portalcharacters.com/disney-infinity/figures.asp

For Skylanders, I just went through each set and loaded every single figure. I think I have everything except the traps from Trap Team, the latest Imaginators set, and multi-packs. Each "lightcore" or special edition received a separate entry, so I'm thinking I will apply the same logic to the Disney Infinity variants for things like Light FX and Crystal.

As for the playsets (the site I linked doesn't appear to list them), perhaps Amazon? I think they should have all of 'em.

I buckled down and loaded in all of the Disney Infinity figures this morning...I think! I used the same naming convention that I did with Skylanders, so they should all be named like this:

Disney Infinity - [version] - [figure name] ([variant, if applicable])

Yeah, keeping Light FX and Crystal/Infinite variations as separate entries makes good sense. Its done the exact same on my Android app My Disney Infinity. The developer did such a brilliant job with that one. You should check it out.
