Shadow of the Colossus (2018)

It was my first time playing this game, first playthrough was a ride and then, after three more, I managed to get all trophies. I wish I hadn't google up some of the colossi when I was feeling stuck... Also, Dirge's my favorite, followed by Phalanx.

Tales of Symphonia

I played some "Tales of" before but they didn't really feel great; Symphonia though, despite being old, caught my attention enough to make me try to get all of the dumbest trophies and also made me fall in love with its cast of characters.

Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney

I did the new AA trilogy marathon this year and this one was definitely my favorite, I loved the family atmosphere between the characters, the (mainly side) characters and the way the cases were connected, which wasn't really a thing in the previous games (with the exception of AA3).

Hades

Got so invested in the plot that I ran out of the new events pretty quick, or at least it felt too quick for me. Haven't played anything new with such a fun gameplay in a while, I can't say what exactly made me love the game, but it was an amazing experience.

Stardew Valley

I was hesitating but when I finally decided to turn this game on, I felt stupid that I prolonged it so. Very investing, with cute animals and fun character interactions, really great game to chill out.

Persona 5 Royal

Persona series is my favorite and though I reaaaally liked the original P5, I have my issues with the new content in Royal. Still, the upgraded version upgraded a lot of things in a good way, and though the game became a bit too easy because of all the new stuff intended to help the player during the fights, it was still a great experience.

The Last Guardian

I got the game after I fell in love with SotC, I wanted something similar even if the story wasn't the same. I haven't played a game this sad in a while and I mean that in terms of the story that was told, I was literally sobbing while watching the ending. The controls were a bit frustrating and many challenges the main character had to beat seemed absolutely impossible to imitate in the real world, but the relationship between the boy and the "huge, scary beast" made up for all that. Also, Trico is the cutest and deserves the world (thank you team Ico for giving the player the pet option).

Tales of Xillia

Very similar to Symphonia in terms of world setting but because it's newer, it does many technical things better yet it didn't catch my interest as much as the latter. I still had a good time playing the game, it was fun, the main cast - even, wow, some antagonists - were very likeable and some individual characters were quite complex comparing them to the usual "Tales" himbos, which is great.

Heavy Rain

I never played anything similar to Heavy Rain in terms of gameplay, my sister made me play the game even though I wasn't really interested and it turned out to be an interesting experience that I don't regret I tried.

Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga

My first SMT that isn't Persona turned out to be quite nice, ignoring the kinda irritating random encounters system. I like the second game more but since I played them both this year, I'm nominating the original to not mess things up.
