Arcinia's Year Challenge
Description
Jumping on the bandwagon and stealing this idea from merph518.
So the initial idea is just to take a key game of interest from each year and eventually conquer them. This was tough. I think I've gotten pickier over the years. I'm also trying not to be TOO biased in picking RPGs (my initial draft of this list was 90% RPG).
System Shock: Enhanced Edition
(1994) aka the year it all started. Going off the original PC version's release but likely going to play the EE.
Chrono Trigger (2008)
(1995) I don't own the game as of creating this stack, but I do plan on playing it.
Acquired 12/29/2021. Going to use the 2008 version but 1995 is based off the game's original release.
NiGHTS into Dreams…
(1996)
Might and Magic VI: The Mandate of Heaven
(1998). My dad loved M&M and this game interested me, just never picked it up. Well now I have no excuse to keep putting it off!
Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation
(1999) Also a classic, my dad and I never beat this one or got very far in it.
Wizardry 8
(2001)
DOOM 3: BFG Edition
(2004) My original 2004 game was Far Cry, but I didn't enjoy it as much as I hoped so here's Doom 3 instead.
Finished on 2/24/2022 - Year #3.
Psychonauts
(2005)
Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition
(2008) Going based off the original release date.
Brutal Legend
(2009) I apparently beat every 2009-ish game that interested me, but not this one.
The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings - Enhanced Edition
(2011) Going based off the original edition's release.
Tales of Graces f
(2012) I'm going off the initial American release, which was in 2012 (we never got ToG original).
BioShock Infinite
(2013)
Beaten on 06/08/2023 - Year #8.
Shantae and the Pirate's Curse
(2014)
100%'d on 01/21/2023 - Year #7.
DOOM (2016)
(2016)
Beaten on 03/04/2021 - Year #4.
Resident Evil VII: Biohazard
(2017) I don't own the game as of creating this stack, but I sure plan on getting it.
Beaten on 10/15/2021 - Year #1.
Zwei: The Arges Adventure
(2018) Going off the US release, which was 2018.
Dragon Quest Builders 2
(2019) I don't own the game as of creating this stack, but I definitely want to get it.
Acquired 03/19/2022.
Beaten on 05/04/2022 - Year #6.
Darksiders Genesis
(2020)
Ys IX: Monstrum Nox
(2021) I don't own the game as of creating this stack, but I definitely want to get it.
Elden Ring
(2022) I don't own the game as of creating this stack, but I definitely want to get it. Also, this might be the only $60/game purchase I make in 2022. Hope it's worth it.
Acquired 2/24/2022.
Finished on 4/12/2022 - Year #5. Yes, it was worth it.
Sons of the Forest
(2023) It was between this, Pikmin 4, and Diablo 4. Think this one's the most appropriate.
I haven't acquired this game yet.
