Metroid Prime Remastered

A surprise drop from Nintendo is basically unheard of, especially one of this calibre. Metroid Prime Remastered takes what is probably the perfect Metroid game and gives it a facelift, making for an excellent experience. The original, which I would typically replay once every year or two, will certainly be collecting dust on the shelf for a while!

Inscryption

I was seriously impressed with this game - what begins as a very unassuming (but fun) card game quickly transforms into a unique experience. I was enthralled from start to finish.

Resident Evil 4 (2023)

I had never played the original RE4, but I don't think I'd be able to go back. RE4 2023 is fantastic - Leon is such a dork (in an endearing way). I'd heard the original was a bit campy but this one had genuinely scary moments - the Regeneradors in particular were stressful for me.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3: Future Redeemed

Monolith Software have knocked it out of the park again. I preferred the DLC of 2 simply because its brevity served the gameplay experience, whereas this one I was hoping would go on a bit longer. Still a hell of a game and I'm excited to see where the series goes in the future.

Quote of the year: "Nice going, smart ass."

Tinykin

I saw posts describing this game as a cross between Banjo-Kazooie and Pikmin; that's pretty much how I'd describe it too after playing. Two of my favourite games married together works pretty well for me.

A Short Hike

A wonderful little game - feels very nostalgic. A beautiful soundtrack plays as you wander through an island with quirky characters. It feels like the game was made to make you smile.

Hitman

I think the first Hitman had the most consistent quality in levels - might be because of the episodic release schedule allowing for more development time. It's a lot of fun - the replayability and creativity in this game is quite impressive.

Hitman 2

I don't have much more to say about this than what I said about Hitman.

We Love Katamari Reroll + Royal Reverie

It's Katamari... I don't know why, I enjoyed this significantly more than its predecessor. It's just dumb fun.
