This game (and its sequel since they are an inseparable duo) has my all-time favourite storylines in a JRPG. Coupled with Shin Megami Tensei's perfected battle style, this game is, without a doubt, my number one JRPG.

Whilst not my favourite Persona soundtrack, Persona 4 was certainly when the series peaked in terms of story and gameplay. However, many of the Social Links I didn't care for. Only loses to Persona 3 FES because of improved playability. If they remaster Persona 3 FES, that will take the top spot.
Honourable mention: Persona 3 FES

An interesting story that does things a little differently from previous Fire Emblem games. Not a perfect cast but with so many characters, that would be hard to achieve.

The Etrian Odyssey series was already perfect in my eyes and then they added an all-new storyline and characters to it!
Honourable mention: Persona Q

I'll admit, I've not played any other Dragon Quest games but this game is what makes me want to play more of them!

The original Pokémon Gold is a perfect game. Now imagine that but your Pokémon follows you around! I pray that one day we may have another Pokémon game with this feature.
Honourable mention: Pokémon Platinum; Pokémon Black

A wonderful game with cute collectable monsters and a battle system that involves spinning a wheel. I really enjoyed the unique battle style and Yo-Kai designs even if the story itself was lacking (but it was made of children so I can't complain).
