Tarzanslam's Top 10 Games Played in 2023
Description
It's been another year of me not getting around to playing very many games but my collection keeps getting larger. I play so infrequently lately that I feel this list may be similar to last year. Hope that changes in 2024!
Final Fantasy X
My Completionator Game of the Year is Final Fantasy X. As you'll see in my later entries, this year has been a lot of picking up and replaying games that I put down and starting over since I forgot the story from years ago. I haven't beat this game yet but I'm at the farthest point I've ever been as of this writing. I do enjoy the story (even with some of the cheesy voice acting....HA...HAAA...HAAAAAA) Anyways I do hope to finally finish this game to make it the 3rd Final Fantasy game I've ever beaten.
Super Mario Bros. Wonder
My runner up this year is Mario Wonder. I'm a few worlds into the game and love it. The gameplay is awesome and I'm enjoying the crazy "wonder" aspect to all the levels. I'm a sucker for a classic Mario game. Heck, I've only beat the original Super Mario Bros well over 100 times in my lifetime.
Halo Infinite
Been playing this off and on throughout the year. I've only played the multiplayer and hope to get into the campaign soon. This game looks great on my PC on my 49 inch curved monitor.
Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
I didn't get very far on this game but I'm excited to play more. I've always enjoyed the Professor Layton and Phoenix Wright games and the fact that these two are in one game is amazing.
Final Fantasy XV
This is another game where I am on my 2nd or 3rd run through of the game. I really do enjoy this entry into the Final Fantasy franchise and I believe I actually made it to close to the end of the game. But once I reached the part where the mood of the game changed and I couldn't go back to exploring the world, my interest level took a hit. I might have to go back and start over so I can level up my characters more before I get to the "point of no return"
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
I didn't get to play much of Tears of the Kingdom yet since I bought it on release day. It just hasn't hooked me yet like Breath of the Wild did. I hope to get around to more of it soon.
Golf+
This is a VR game that I have on my Quest 2. I love that it has several different modes of play like a regular round of golf or you can play TopGolf as well. If you like golf and want a realistic experience and not just a mini-golf VR game, I recommend Golf+.
Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins
One of the only games I beat this year and it wasn't the first time I've ever beat this game. Mario land 2 is always a fun game to pick up and try and beat in a short timespan. You can't go wrong with this one.
Octopath Traveler
On my second run through with this. This may be a common theme this year....trying to finish games I started years ago but had to start over because it's been so long since I last played the game. I love this game so much. I just wish I had more time in my busy schedules lately to play.
Mario & Luigi: Dream Team
I'm on my 2nd attempt to get through this game. I got really far before but got tired of playing it as it felt like all the random encounters were a little excessive. Sometimes it feels like this game series just extends the gameplay by adding useless storylines to it. I do hope to get to the end of this someday just so I can say I finished a Mario & Luigi game.
