Top 10 of 2024
Description
Silent Hill 2 (2024)
Fantastic remake, I felt like I got to play one of my favourite games for the first time all over again.
Mouthwashing
Charming indie that hit all the right notes for me, great art direction. Emotionally damaging.
Resident Evil 2: Dual Shock Edition
All-time classic. Played this time with the Seamless HD Project mod.
Enter the Gungeon
Oozing with charm and polish, full of content and humour. Got addicted to doing runs every evening for a few months.
Dragon's Crown
A great game for couch co-op. Vanillaware's art is beautiful as always.
Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen
A bit janky, but full of soul. Had lots of interesting ideas, but execution wasn't always there. Trading pawns globally is a lot of fun.
The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom
A solid return to the 2D Zelda formula. The new gimmick is fun, but most of the game is easily brute-forced using a handful of echoes.
The Last of Us: Part I
Finally got around to this one. The presentation is top-notch, but the story felt a bit drawn-out and predictable. Maybe it was just over-hyped for me.
Brave Fencer Musashi
A charming retro game full of character. I decided to play it after seeing the rhythm battle in a vgm thread; turns out it's one of the last things you do in the game.
Live A Live (1994)
Played the remake last year, decided to revisit the original. Still quite ambitious, feels like it was held back graphically by the low resolution.
