Some of the best games I played in 2024

1

Silent Hill 2 (2024)

I played both the original and the remake for the first time this year, and honestly I could put both here. However, I chose to put the remake specifically because it managed to exceed my expectations and deliver something really special, that caught me off guard with how good it managed being. I always knew the original would be great and I can't say the same for the remake, but I'm glad it ended up impressing everyone.

Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero

As a huge fan of the Budokai Tenkaichi games, I was very hyped for this game, and despite some flaws it did not disappoint.

Helldivers II

As someone who doesn't really play multiplayer games, Helldivers II has managed to become one of my favorite games ever. It's not perfect, but compared to many other live services (especially those released this year) it's one that I actually find myself having fun in every time I open it up.

Sonic x Shadow Generations

Getting two of the best Sonic games in one package is proof that Sonic Team is still capable of producing some great games, and I hope they carry this standard of gameplay and storytelling from here on out.

Halo 3

I would put the whole original trilogy here, but I wanted to mention some other games, so I chose my favorite out of the three. It was a very close call between this and Halo 2, but 3 manages to have a slight edge over 2 with its great levels, excellent set pieces, refined controls, and awesome vehicles.

Ridge Racer V

When I felt stressed as I studied for my finals, this game became my main mode of relaxing. The early 2000s aesthetic, the great soundtrack, and the fantastic controls make this a game that I'm always coming back to, hoping to find ways to improve my race times and speed.

Mullet Mad Jack

A very fun roguelite that combines style and substance to make for a very addicting game.

Watch Dogs

I wasn't originally planning to replay this game when I booted it up to test out some mods, but a few hours later I began to remember why I loved this game so much when I played it on PS4. The gameplay may not be as fleshed out as it's sequel, but what is here is done well enough to really make you feel like an expert hacker. Combine this with the Living City mod, and you have what I now consider to be one of my favorite open-world games ever.

Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation

While flawed in a few areas , the ambition and talent on display here makes for a worthy ending to the original Tomb Raider series (before 5 and 6 brought her back) that lives up to the standards of the first three games.

Terminator 3: The Redemption

One of the only good Terminator games ever made, this game managed to give you every opportunity to feel exactly as cool as Arnold in the movies.
