Miscellaneous: Games I'm Dreading Completing

Description

A few games that I have in my collection and am interested in starting. However, for all of these game I either have a sneaking suspicion or know off hand that completing it will be a hassle.

Tales of Symphonia

The size, so I've been lead to believe, is staggering, hence my not having actually played the game yet. Additionally, I believe that this may be one of those RPG's with multiple endings, so that has me a little apprehensive. Not that I hate the concept, I like multiple endings, but when you are going about trying to do and collect everything, especially for an RPG, it can be (or at least seem like) a difficult task. That being said, this is still a game that multiple people have told me to pick up, so I may need to suck it up and start it anyways.

3D Dot Game Heroes

I LOVE this game, I think it's a great RPG that manages to be refreshing while obviously paying homage to those that came before it (though primarily The Legend of Zelda). The only reason I have yet to go back and complete it are the intimidating trophies. One worth noting is completing the bestiary, which is pretty standard for RPG's. However, in this case that also includes bosses, which can take up to 40 hits with your bestiary (that's how you log them, attacking them with the actual bestiary book). Some of the bosses move so fast and attack so hard that it can be a real pain. The ultimate trophy has to be the no death play through, which always has me apprehensive, especially for a large-scale RPG. Maybe I'll go back to it eventually, even if just for the neat voxel character creation.

Metroid Prime

I probably made it halfway through this one back when I first got it, but my play through didn't last long once I realized that there were quite a few enemies to log in the journal that, once missed, cannot be obtained in that run. I stopped going through it shortly after that. That was probably 8 or 9 years ago at this point, but I keep looking at it, keeping that knowledge in mind and it makes me want to avoid it like the plague. It's a good game, I remember having fun with it, but for someone who likes to play games while using a walk through or guide as little as possible, who knows if I'll ever revisit this well.

Sonic the Hedgehog (2006)

There have been a few times that I've started this one and gotten pretty far, and I think at one point I even 100% the Sonic campaign. That being said, the other campaigns in the game are even worse, and make trying to do the most simple of tasks a headache in and of itself. You'll get that with broken games, and it makes me feel like I shouldn't even bother. Yet, there's that little voice in the back of my head telling me that it would be pretty cool to have a 100% Sonic '06 play through in my repertoire.

Update: I did complete this one finally

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door

RPG's seem to be the standard "observe them from afar" type of games for me, and it's no wonder why. I'm always worried while playing through that I'll accidentally miss a time-based quest, or I won't get an item that'll disappear later. This is one of those games, but it holds higher value than most others because, all that aside, I really do want to play it. Everyone always tells me that it has a great story and I've personally never played a Mario game that at I really disliked, even if some I'm more ambivalent towards. I suppose that this entry could apply to the other Paper Mario's out there, as well as the Superstar Saga games, but this one in particular is bittersweet for me due to how conflicted I am about starting a campaign.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

While I have an apprehension to starting this one, I'm adding it after the fact because I actually am about to start a play through of this very game. I don't know how I'll manage, having played very little of it in the past. I know the amount of things to do is quite staggering, but I'm willing to take it all the way, even though I know that with everything else I have going on, including but not limited to a regular, 40 hour a week job, it could be well over a year before I'm actually able to complete it the way I want to complete it.
