If you happen to run across any games that have incorrect data, such as a typo in the name, feel free to post here and a curator should be able to take care of it for you. Please note that we're constantly filling in data, so if you see a game that's just missing data altogether, then unfortunately, we haven't had a chance to get to it yet.

Hi moho, if you need any more Curators, please let me know, you can check my profile if you need a reference for me taking the task seriously. (Mostly I'd just be adding proper data and better artwork for PlayStation 1 games for starters.)

All the best,
newyokohama

EDIT: Also, are PSX console artwork and logos cropped out of game artwork on purpose? :-)

Regarding cropping: Yes, historically, we would try to make any game cover art as platform non-specific as possible, which wasn't restricted to psx games. This was mainly to help avoid search confusion with regards to cross-platform titles and to keep things looking "cleaner" on search/browse.

I don't really go out of my way to do it anymore when I add new games, not sure if anyone else does either. Mainly because of a relatively new feature where game entries can now support multiple cover arts for platform-specific images, (which is slowly being populated.)

Thanks, dhobo, yeah, and I guess if a game only game out on one platform, like say for example Jumping Flash, maybe that can stay, but point absolutely taken.

I still crop out platform-specific logos when adding new games. The only exception is if it would negatively impact the artwork, such as remove the head of the main character or a noticeable part of the logo. Certain platforms are tough since they appear on the side which results in a super thin image, or some put the logo in the middle of the box art, which requires a bit more work, so I usually let those go on the initial load.

When I go through and fill in all of the data, I try to make sure the generic image is truly generic. I've actually been working on PS1 a little bit, though I'm focused mostly on N64 at the moment (almost done though!) If you're still interested in helping, we can try to connect in the near future as there's a short orientation to go over all the wacky curator screens

I'm definitely interested in helping! By looking at my stats you can see I'm passionate about the data. :-D No rush, let me know when you're ready.

I'm not sure if this is the correct place to post this (if it is the wrong place, please let me know), but I have two (2) listings for The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time when I only added it once. When I looked at both listings for OoT in my collection, I did notice that one of them has the "normal" box art, while the other has the "collector's edition" box art. Also, when I update one, it seems to update both. For instance, I updated it (a while ago) to say that I completed the game, and BOTH updated. Somehow, my one addition of OoT added two (2) listings that are tied together. Can we fix this? Thanks.

Is there any small text beneath either of the entry titles in your collection list? The behaviour you're describing sounds an awful lot like what happens when you have a compilation game (which creates the base entry for the compilation, and then separate automatic entries for each game/dlc/etc... contained within the compilation.) Changes made to the main compilation entry tend to propagate down to all of the contained games. A compilation game look something like this:

Sorry if you already know this, but I thought I'd explain it in case you don't.

Even with that said, I'm not aware of any compilation that would tie the collector's edition and regular edition together like that, so it still sounds like incorrect behaviour.

To me, it seems possible you've encountered a bug related to some relatively recent changes that were made on the backend to handle more than one box art per game for games released with several editions across multiple platforms. That's something only moho_00 would be able to look into though. I can only speculate.

This is definitely a bug related to the region / platform / edition box art changes. I thought I had all of that settled, but apparently not It appears that the edition is causing the issue, so I've temporarily removed the Ocarina of Time Collector's Edition entry from the admin. This should fix the duplication in your collection and once I have a fix for it, I'll add the Collector's Edition entry on the admin side back in. Once that happens, you should only see ONE of them. You'll get the Collector's Edition if you enter "Collector's Edition" in the Edition textbox, otherwise, you'll get the regular one. Sorry for the confusion!

I just tested with Bad Dudes which I had just updated to include the various European budget re-release info for older platforms.

Commodore 64 listings:

  • Bad Dudes (NA)
  • Bad Dudes (EU)
  • Bad Dudes (EU) - "The Hit Squad" edition

Adding Bad Dudes with NA as the region only added one copy to my collection.
Adding Bad Dudes with EU as the region gave me two copies, presumably the second being the Hit Squad edition since I didn't have custom box art to really differentiate between the two.

I'll hold off on adding re-release info to the admin entries for now until this bug is squashed.

Reporting another entry that does this, in case that info is needed at all; I've noticed the duplicate entries with Animal Crossing: City Folk. Upon adding it to my wishlist, it added three separate entries, each with different prices. If I delete one, it deletes all three.

@stufio - I pushed out a hotfix last night to take care of the issue you reported. I added the Ocarina of Time Collector's Edition back in, so let me know how things look on your end.

@_Peachy - I'm glad you reported that because it's actually a separate (though similar) issue! Your issue was related to VGPC. I had mapped City Folk to multiple VGPC entries, but had not specified an edition. I fixed the mappings and you should only see one entry now.

I noticed The Jackbox Party Pack games are listed as stand alone games, however these are packs of games which should be listed as individual games that are part of the Jackbox Party Pack collection they come from. Here take a look.

Hmm..I always thought the Jackbox Party Packs were more in the vein of WarioWare / Mario Party (with much meatier games, of course) in that they contained games built specifically for the pack. The way we've traditionally handled compilations is that the games inside are available as separate entries (physically or digitally). I'm not too familiar with these though, so I may just not be up to speed on them.

I wouldn't put these packs in the same vein as Mario Party. In Mario Party your playing a collection of smaller games that are shared between all "boards" and each board only has minor rules that differ them from each other. In The Jack Box Party Pack each game shares no assets between each other and have vastly differing rules for how to play them. Take the third pack (as that's the one I'm most familiar with).

T.K..O is a game that challenges each player to create the most humorous casual T Shirt designs from the all the participating players slogans and drawings.
Trivia Murder Party is a trivia game with some luck and strategy mini games thrown in for those who get wrong answers.
Fakin' It is a game where one player is trying hide the fact that they don't know what questions are being asked while still coming up with plausible responses.

I would call each of these games as unique enough to be there own game. On the subject of each being available as stand alone games this currently goes against Jackbox's current market strategy. However this doesn't mean they won't at some future date. The only game so far that they have treated in this matter so far is Lie Swatter, originally available only as a part of The Jackbox Party Pack 1 that is now also available as a standalone game on the Amazon Alexa platform.

I believe "99 Vidas" and "99Vidas - The Game " should be combined.

There seems to be an error between two of the Farland Story entries recently added.

https://www.completionator.com/Game/Details/44527
https://www.completionator.com/Game/Details/44532

While these two games share a similar title (the subtitle for the computer game came later, so they were both originally just "Farland Story"), they are different. One was the original release, while the other was a Super Famicom "remake" of the first and second computer games with its own changes. So the second listing should be the PC/PC-98 version while the first should be the Super Famicom listing, due to the subtitle. (But the first listing has information from the PC version, so it might be easier to just swap the titles.)

Here is a page for the SFC version. https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/snes/571234-farland-story

@_Peachy - Thanks for the heads-up, I think they should be fixed now. I ended up swapping the titles and then changing the box art for the non-subtitled version to the SFC version. (If you don't see the updated box art, try a CTRL+F5 refresh.)

Should be Mutant Football League: Dynasty Edition....easy mix-up since it's basically the spiritual successor to Mutant League Football.
