Oh man, this dvd talk reminded me of something from my childhood! I used to have this Captain Power toy that you could use to play along with some VHS tapes that used flashing coloured lights to trigger a sensor in the toy so you could "shoot" enemies and dodge attacks, etc... There were a couple of different toys that responded to the flashing lights, I had the Power Jet! 1: Future Force Training 2: Bio Dread Strike Mission 3: Raid on Volcania

@moho_00 - Wow, that was quick! Thank you so much. I feel so bad that I'm about to do this, but... today, I was able to go through a few boxes of games, and as I was adding them in I noticed a few more that are missing from the database: Atari 2600 Big Bird's Egg Catch Sneak 'N Peek Oscar's Trash Race Cookie Monster Munch Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back (1982) M*A*S*H Quick Step Playstation Arcade's Greatest Hits: The Atari Collection 2 Activision Classics Playstation 2 Mobile Suit Gundam: Zeonic Front Intellivision Lives! Nintendo DS Gunpey DS Bust-a-Move DS Left Brain Right Brain Left Brain Right Brain 2 Wii Wing Island Tron Evolution: Battle Grids PC / Windows Rally Championship International Off-Road Racing

@chronotron - Those have all been added! You had perfect timing with Intellivision Lives because it has been requested before and I've been figuring out what it actually contains for a while now. The day before you posted about it, I was finalizing the list and had planned on loading it anyways! Now I just need to add the PC and DS versions since those were separate releases and have a different set of games (or at least the DS version does, haven't looked into PC much yet). @jkersey450 - That one has been added! |

@moho_00 - Thank you so much! I'm a little curious: why use a database you have to update manually rather than an existing database with an API, like IGDB? I just ask because I know there are movie review sites that use TMDB's user-edited movie database, and it seems to work well for them. (I'm not suggesting you switch over, now; the site is already built, and changing it to use another site's database would be nearly if not actually impossible without losing Completionator's already existing user-entered data.) Were there no good game databases when you started the site? Or did you not want to risk another site being able to break this one if something changes in the future? Like I said, I'm just curious. The fewer people updating a database, the more tiresome it becomes for them. I've seen it wear people down over the years.

The main reason I chose to keep it manually curated is because the options I evaluated didn't quite line up to what I wanted, mostly from a collection aspect. Giant Bomb and IGDB do a great job of collecting game info, but they really fall down on the collection side of things since entries are consolidated in a not-so-collector-friendly way. The other thing is those databases just aren't accurate all the time. I actually had Completionator importing Giant Bomb data regularly and it was....interesting. Some of the data was fine, but there were a lot of issues with it. I've evaluated IGDB and it's maybe a little better, but their API is missing some critical pieces of data to make it worthwhile (specifically release dates). Another reason is I like having full compilation game support since I have a ton of those It's definitely a lot of work, but it provides limitless flexibility to ensure we have a database that can bridge the "gamer" and "collector" gap. Tracking down all of the release dates is a very tedious process :P

So Pokemon Sun and Moon came out today and there are 4 versions. Single Sun, Single Moon, Dual Pack Sun and Moon and Amazon Exclusive Steelbook dual pack. Was wondering if you would make separate posts or if I should add Sun and Moon separate and note the edition on my own?

@Nocmin and @bliptych - Those have all been added! @Omeganuker - The "single" versions were already on here, but I added an entry for the dual pack since it's definitely a compilation game release. The Steelbook Edition looks to me to be something you'd want to note on your collection entry. It doesn't look like VGPC has an entry for it yet, but once they do (and I load in some new price data!), I can associate it appropriately.

Thanks! I saw you have completed fan-made projects that are a full-out game, like Black Mesa. Found a few more in a recent bundle.

@Noctim Another Metroid 2 Remake (AM2R) is already on the database: http://www.completionator.com/Game/Details/29450 |

and just to (hopefully) avoid future confusion, I added an alt title to the AM2R entry with the full name. |

Cool! I shoulda thought to check both. >_< When I find commonly-used alternative titles, should I mention them here? There are a few I managed to figure out, but partly by luck. |

Sure, if it makes navigating the database easier for folks, then we can definitely add common known aliases to games. |

Sorry for the delay everyone, but I think I've added everything that's been requested recently, EXCEPT Batman: Return to Arkham. I was wondering if anyone familiar with it knew if we should add new "remastered" entries or just re-use the existing ones? It didn't seem like you could purchase the remastered versions separately, which has sort of been used as a barometer to determine such things. I'm fine with whatever, just not familiar with the game. Adding games in a timely manner will probably stay a little bumpy for a few more weeks. I'm oh-so-close to moving and it's cramping my style :P |

Batman: Return to Arkham is like the Uncharted Nathan Drake Collection. It contains remastered versions of previous games not available for PS4 (or other consoles). |

I just raided my parent's storage and recovered a ton of old Atari games and was hoping to get all my old NES and SNES games but I couldn't find them. The following needs to be added : Adventures of Tron - Atari 2600 - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adventures_of_Tron Here's some TI-99 cartridges I received and I'm not sure if they are games or not so it's up to you if you want to add them: Early Reading - TI-99 - http://www.ebay.ie/itm/TI-99-4A-Early-Reading-cartridge-w-manual-Tested-Works-Great-Free-Shipping-/262219982984 |
