@dhobo That would be a good solution. It also answers the objection I was about to post that, taking Metal Gear Solid 2 HD Edition as an example, it has extra content not available in the original MGS2 release, and is more accurately an HD version of Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance.

@boffo97 - Since it sounds like the consensus is to not load in HD versions of games, I think I have all of the requested games loaded :)

@moho_00 OK, are you planning to remove the HD versions already in the system? (Not counting the ones where there seems to be no non HD version of course) And if so, will having those games in our collection just be totally deleted, or changed to having the non HD version?

Any chance you could add a compilation entry for the Sam & Max games? The individual games are listed, but they're a prime candidate for having a compilation as well.

S&M 101, 102, 103, 104, 105, and 106 as "Sam & Max Season One"
S&M 201, 202, 203, 204, and 205 as "Sam & Max Season Two"

On a related note, if possible, could you make it work so that when you add a compilation entry, that the games that are individually added get the same status? I added the Devil's Playhouse compilation for S&M as completionated, and noticed the five individual episodes were added as incomplete.

Thanks!

@johnnyd1988 - Completions without an associated game in the database is not something I had thought of or planned for. Are you looking to enter the completion time or just log somewhere that you completed it? In either case, I can add a few for you. I've tried to avoid adding browser / flash / mobile games since they could clutter up the database in a hurry, but I think hitting some of the bigger ones or just a few here in the beginning would be fine. Especially since a lot of them are finding their way onto Steam anyways haha.

@dhobo - Absolutely, I can create a compilation for the Sam & Max games. I've tried to set the Telltale Games entries up that way, those must've slipped through. Regarding the progress status, do you mean when you first add the game, it should pick up the status? Or do you mean when you edit a game in your collection and move it to a different status? Or both? If it's the former, I actually noticed this yesterday when I added a compilation game (SNK Arcade Classics Vol. 1). I had set the backlog flag and noticed none of the sub-entries were marked as such. So I would definitely agree with you there since I had to go to all 16 games and mark them :)

@moho_00 I was referring to the former, yes, but being able to propagate the changes upon a compilation edit would also be a great feature I would think!

@moho_00 If you do decide to take out the HD version entries of games where the regular version is already listed, could you let us know?

For my case, specifically the Metal Gear Solid HD collection, as I think that's the only one in the database that could be affected. I'd just like to be sure that my game won't disappear from the collection if the entry is ever removed. :)

@boffo97 - Yeah, I'll be sure to post if I make any changes with the HD games. I do plan on removing the Metal Gear Solid HD games. I'll replace the Metal Gear Sold HD Collection so it uses the non-HD versions of the games. I'll script it out so the entry in your collection is updated and you won't need to do anything. But I'll let you know once it's done :)

As an addendum to my previous post about the Sam & Max collections:

You're also missing "Sam & Max 104: Abe Lincoln Must Die!"

I know steam's db for that entry is a bit wonky since there were two editions of it at some point (it was a giveaway, or a demo, or something like that) before all of Season One was put up properly. If you used some kind of auto-import feature to add steam's games to the db, that could be why it was missed/skipped.

@moho_00 As long as I don't suddenly have games removed from my collection, that should be sufficient. Thanks for your patience and hard work!

@boffo97 - I've removed the Metal Gear Solid HD games from the database and fixed the ones in your collection to reference the non-HD versions. Everything looks good to me, but let me know if you see anything weird.

@dhobo - I added the Sam and Max compilation games. I didn't alter your collection or anything, so you can either re-add the compilation or I can script it out for you. I wasn't for sure if you had the entire seasons, so I didn't want to modify your collection without inquiring first.

And you are absolutely right on Steam being wonky with those games! That's why episode 4 was left out (not sure how I missed it though!) and they weren't set up as compilations to begin with. The Steam import has been challenging only because of the way they organize games sometimes, especially with episodic games.

Anyways, I think I have everyone caught up on games now, but let me know if I missed something! I'm currently adjusting to a new evening schedule that has limited my availability, so I apologize for taking so long to address these issues.

@moho_00 Looks good. I went ahead and deleted the entries I had anyway so I could just enter it as the Metal Gear Solid: HD Collection since it's easier just to have it listed under the compilation.

Not a game to add per se, but I wasn't sure where else to put this. The image for the Steam game Braveland is broken.

@moho_00 Thanks for the update! No worries about changing/updating anything in my collection, I figured I'd wait until the compilations were added before putting them in to avoid any weirdness.

You've been great regarding updating the site, I'm sure none of us will fault you for slowing down a bit due to offline obligations.

Found another series that could use a compilation entry when you get a chance, please:

Tales of Monkey Island (all episodes are already in the database)

Wallace & Gromit's Grand Adventures also needs some compilation love.

Incoming mess! The modern Ninja Gaiden series strewed across various platforms is confusing as hell due to the titles, but I've tried to list them in order of release. Not sure if this qualifies under the "HD versions" thing that was discussed recently, but I think there is unique content to the enhanced versions (Black/Sigma/Plus) afaik that differentiates them from the original releases.

Ninja Gaiden (2004 Xbox):
- Ninja Gaiden Black (2005 enhanced version also for Xbox)
- Ninja Gaiden Sigma (2007 enhanced version for ps3)
- Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus (2012 yet again enhanced for Vita)

Ninja Gaiden 2 (2008 xbox 360, already in the database, but listed for posterity)
- Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 (2009 enhanced for ps3)
- Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Plus (2013 no idea if enhanced or straight up port this time for Vita)

Ninja Gaiden 3 (2012 ps360)
- Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge (2012/13 WiiU/ps360) Another "enhanced" edition with all DLC. Already listed, base game is not.

Outside of the main series, there's also the DS game missing from the database:
Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword

All of those Ninja Gaiden games should be loaded now. I agree that they should be separate entries in the DB since I was also under the impression that each release had unique content. I picked up Razor's Edge for this very reason, though I haven't actually managed to play it yet :P

Found some more missing games:

  • Ratchet & Clank Future Tools of Destruction
  • Ratchet & Clank Future a Crack in Time
  • Red Dead Redemption Undead Nightmare (Yes, it's technically DLC, but it was sold as a standalone disc as well)
  • Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11
  • White Knight Chronicles II
